The one thing that my DD9 wants to do is have her hair braided. We will be going on the three night after spending 5 days at the World. She has wanted to do this since she learned that we would be going to the Bahamas and I would like them to last. So, what would be the best way to get these done without missing out on too much?

1. Having them done at the Nick Hotel and missing out on a little of the world.

2. Having them done at the Grand Floridian and also missing part of the world.

3. Having them done on the ship and missing out on ship time.

4. Having them done at Castaway Cay and missing that?

5. I think that I have ruled out having them done at Nassau since I have heard a few negative comments.

Our plans are to hit the parks in the mornings, go back to Fort Wilderness in the late afternoon for swimming and dinner and back to the parks for the fireworks and the shows.

On the ship we have the Catamaran and Snorkel scheduled for Nassau and nothing on Castaway Cay day.

This is so hard because we don't want to miss out on too much. Your opinions and insights are very welcome. Thanks in advance!

I voted for CC, because really, it doesn't take too long and they are only a few steps from the beach. You won't miss anything on CC while she gets it done. I've had mine done twice there and they were super tight and lasted a long time.

Do it on ship, both my DD's (6 and 11) had it done while we were onboard and it took only 1/2 an hour at most. My DW liked it so much she had hers done the next night after dinner before the show started.Let her know that it really hurts, when the start and when they are working on the side of the head by the temples, my DW is not sure she will have this done again.

ON THE SHIP!!! CC is a great spot, but it takes longer on CC because they do smaller braids. It took about 45 minutes to do my dd's hair at CC. They put 24 braids in at CC and only 13 on the ship. We booked our hair braiding for an at sea day and it took no more than 30 minutes. We were on a 7 day so they did it on the last at sea day.

It's probably the cheapest in Nassau, but do it where you have the most time..either the ship or CC. My daughter had it done in Feb, in Old Town Orlando, and she doesn't think she'll do it again, mainly because it DOES hurt, and her haid was sore for a couple days. But, on the positive side, it looked cute, she could say she did it, and it kept her hair out of her face for about 3 weeks!!!!! Low maintenece...wohoo, great for a vacation for a kid with lots of hair :)

ON THE SHIP!!

I saw girls getting their hair braided on CC and it was so HOT HOT...DD got them done on 8/4 3 day ...first night on ship at 10pm...we had finished dinner, winding down and she was excited to have braids first ;)

BUT ..i do have to say they were much much tighter in Nassau then on the ship..but there was also the price---$24 on ship vs $50 nassau..

Do the ship...:)

I would get it done either when the ship is at sea or at the Grand Floridian or Nick Hotel. It took over 1 1/2 hours for my daughters hair. They both had a seperate braider. We did it when we were at sea. I would not want to waste time on Castaway Cay doing the braiding. My kids loved CC the best.

Thanks everyone! I'll have my DD read these and make a choice. Just curious, has anyone had their hair done at Grand Floridian or the Nick Hotel? I was wondering if they are as good as on the ship and CC. Since we have more time at the parks, she could miss a little there during our break and not precious ship or CC time. Do you know if they last? Are they any good? Thanks again!

I would also like to know about braids at the Nick hotel we are staying there for 3 nights before our cruise Jan 5th. How much are the braids there? And what others things do they offer at the Nick spa. Thanks! :sunny:

Does anyone know if we can post this thread on the Resort and Other Resort threads to get other opinion? If so, how? Thanks

My DD had her hair braided at the Nick Hotel in April, it cost about $50 (she had the half head done up to the crown of her head), it took about an hour and lasted the whole 3 week holiday and a few days after she got back, before it started unravelling. I would definitely do it at the Nick Hotel, the girls are very quick and friendly and your DD is less likely to get impatient having it done at the hotel than whilst on the ship or CC. Also I think it was definitely cheaper at the Nick Hotel than on Disney property.

My DD loved her braids and is def having them done again next year!

Thanks for answering...

Do you have to reserve a time?
Do you know anything about the Nick spa's maincure / pedicure? Cost?
My two little girls (age 3 and 5) just love painting their nails.

Hi there,

Unfortunately when we were there in Easter the spa wasn't actually open as they were still refurbishing, they were just doing the braiding in the lobby, no appointment was needed you just turned up. It may be different now, sorry can't help more with prices etc. My girls were 3,5 and 8 when we went and the loved the Nick Hotel so I am sure you will have a fabulous time.
