Whenever I go to Florida I always seem to take so many diffferent shoes! There's the flip flops for by the pool, the sandles for shopping days, the trainers for animal kingdom day and the comfy walkers for the parks, the sandles for the evening, the inside the hotel shoes, the comfy room shoes. Then...there's the bags.......the bag for the pool, the bag for shopping days, the bag for park days, the bag for the evening and I haven't even begun the toiletry bag!!!!;) Anyone else out there like me or is it a "British" thimng:)

I used to travel with a few too many pairs of shoes until I discovered the answer to all my shoe needs:

Birkenstocks!

I know some people don't like them but I think they are heavenly. I wear them for all the reasons you listed. They are great for theme parks. I just have to take them off when riding a coaster where my feet dangle!

Birkensocks....haven't heard of them. Are they like a hushpuppy?

Birkenstocks are sandals. They kind of mold themselves to your feet. I love them, but need the support of an athletic shoe to do the parks.

I bring along one pair of shoes. My Merrell sandals.

Gee, I thought my wife was the only one that did this!!!! LOL....

I know this is the ladies thread, but I have to agree, I LOVE Birkenstocks. They are soooooooooo comfortable. I have about 3 pairs and can't live without them when I am in casual attire.

I loved Birkenstocks until I bought a pair of Merrell's. They are the most incredibly comfortable shoes that my feet have ever had the pleasure of wearing!

As far as the shoes and bags brigade I usually bring like 3 pairs of shoes and 2 different bags plus the fanny pack. This is for theme park travel if you said on a cruise or a trip like that, yes I over pack on these items too!

Pssst...JessicaR...this was a thread started by someone from England...don't call it a "fanny pack"....lol...

Anyway, I don't pack too many shoes, but I do bring sneakers, casual flip flops and slides. I usually only go for one or two days, or else I'd probably bring more.

Bag-wise, I bring my camera bag, sometimes my camcorder bag, sometimes a purse (but when at the parks I'd combine my purse with a camera bag), then of course I need to bring along my neon yellow seat cushion and my refill mug...my parents think I'm insane for lugging all this stuff around...I look as though I am a TOURIST!!! Pretty bad, huh? :p

But I wasn't as bad as this one couple I saw yesterday...they had a baby stroller and another stroller they borrowed from Universal Studios (that seats two kids). Both were full of bags...and NOT the store bags from souvineer shops or anything...camera bags, purses, etc. I swear there were at least 12 bags in the strollers combined...I certainly hope they were all theirs :p

I'm taking: pair Merrell sandals (truly the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned, apart from my walking boots), 2 pairs slip on sandals for shopping/evening, slip on covered-toe shoes for the journey, walking socks to keep feet warm on the plane, and bare feet for the villa/pool!

And for bags I shall have a bum bag (strap adjusts to turn it into a utilitarian handbag), a travel bag for the plane, and a light weight back pack to take stuff to the parks and leave in the locker.

And if I really need more shoes I can always buy them there, can't I? ;)

Thanks for all your replies..........what shoes and what bag(s) need time and thought.

JessicaR...thanks for the link - I will peruse later!

LOL!!I wear my sneakers on the airplane and my Tevas in the parks. Tevas are a bit like Birkenstocks only most are canvas. Mine are padded too.

LOL, this is in NO way restricted to a specific country !!!! :) I think it may be a "DIVA" thing !!! :smooth: LOL
I was just adding up the # of shoes I'm taking & I think I may have you beat !!!!! LOL

1) Travel shoes (double as out to dinner shoes)
2) boots (for HHN)
3) 2nd pair of boots (for 2nd night of HHN)
4) new black sneakers
5) new white sneakers (both pairs broken in, of course)
6) old black sneakers
7) old white sneakers (incase of waterloging from rides at IOA)
8) sandals / flip flops for around the room / hallways

You do have me beat with bags though, I travel light going into the parks, if it doesn't fit in the backpack, it doesn't get to go !

Hows that !!! LOL

Selina - Its a good thing we live that close to Universal - I could never lug all those shoes onto a plane !!!

I take the baggage for 2 in weight on the plane.......it's not only shoes, it's toiletries too. Half the case is for shoes, bags and toiletries!! :D
