So we once again had to cancel our first Holiday trip as a family. :(

However, my job is sending me and a co-worker to attend the Disney Institute Leadership Conference at the Paradise Pier in December. I'm excited, yet nervous as this will be the first time I've been this far away from my son. It's bittersweet I guess. I'm very excited about the conference and the impacts it can have on my career. This is a quickie trip, heading down on 12/6 for a day at Disneyland...then 12/7 is the conference and we'll fly home that night. This will be my first trip during the Holidays, my first time staying onsite...but all without the boys I love to do Disney with.

Janelle, even one day during the holidays will be awesome!! I understand the anxiety of going without the family.....been there, done that....but you will only be gone for a couple days, so you'll do fine!! :thumbsup2 Going solo, you'll be able to manuever thru the crowds easier & hit the things you have the most interest in. You'll be able to see the place all dressed up & take in a few of the seasonal treats. As long as you take Ayden home a piece of DL, he'll probably be ok too!! ;) I can't wait until we can plan a Christmas time trip.....it's my favorite holiday & I would be in holiday heaven to step thru the gates!

Well, maybe not solo at all...LAURIE will be there the same time!!! I'm so excited!

So now that I've spent a lot more time on Sherry's Xmas thread I'm really starting to get excited. I want to really take in my Holiday time at the parks. I have a feeling it's just going to be so hard only going for the one day but I certainly have to make the most of it. I know it's just going to want to make me plan another trip, SOON!

Here's a picture from my last trip in February of this year. It was just my Dad and my 7 year old son Ayden. Here's us with my fellow Dis Diva Laurie. I can't wait to see her again.

:cool1: Funny when I go back & read my first post to you......cause now I'm going!!!! :cool1: It's gonna be so fun to be able to spend more time with you this time!!!! We'll make the most of your ONE DAY!!!!

Welcome JonasGirl...yay I have new readers. :cool1:

So some more details about my trip.

My friend/co-worker Karen and I are flying down on 12/6 arriving at John Wayne around 8:30, grabbing our bags and making our way on the Disneyland Express to the PPP. Dropping our bags quickly and off for our ONE day in the park. I'll certainly be giving my camera a workout this trip, I want to be able to capture as much of DL at Christmas time as I can. Part of me doesn't even want to stop to eat so I don't miss anything. Looking forward to of course meeting up with Laurie at some point to spend some time together. I'm sure going to miss having Ayden with me though, at least I know he'll be in school the two days I'm away. Day two of our trip will be the Disney Institute Leadership conference being held at the PPP. That is from 7-4:30. Right after that's over we pick up our bags and it's off to the airport. :( I wish we had one more day in the park, I'm already concerned about the traffic and getting to the airport in time for our flight. Eeeek

So since the majority of my expenses are already covered for the trip, I plan on buying up some Holiday goodness to bring home to my boys. Christmas ornaments are definitely on my list, and hopefully some yummy treats.

Most of all, I just can't wait to see that castle and snow.

So Indiana Jones is closed for refurn Fall 2011.....does that really extend into December as well???

I saw on the Disneyland daily schedule that it's closed Dec 6-7 but supposed to reopen the 8th....so I might luck out & get a ride on it before I leave.

Darn! Looks like I may need to plan another trip. I really want to get Ayden back there for the Holidays.

Really? Why is that?

I'm not sure, it's just seems to be closed for 2 days, probably for a quick check-up.

Well if nothing else, look at this day trip as a way to check it out & then you can plan an awesome holiday trip in the future (if you can't get back there this season). You'll be prepared & know what to expect!!

Oh how I wish I could go twice this season or even just extend my trip this time and bring Ayden. I had that option, the funds just were not there.

I'm getting more excited, Ayden is getting more ok with the idea which I think is helping me to get excited. I'm feeling overwhelmed though with how to get done everything we want to get done. I want to SEE so much....We're want to get to the park ASAP so really hoping our rooms ready but not going to hold my breath. We'll close the park down obviously but I'm struggling trying to plan where we'll eat that day. My friend is leaving it all up to me...she knows I'm the Disney fan and I've been there many times since her last time there. She's one that wouldn't appreciate the details like I do so I don't want to bore her.

I'm thinking maybe Cafe Orleans for lunch though...that's one of my favorite places there, so we can get in some people watching while we have some good food. :)

I love Cafe Orleans. I went for the first time on New Years.

It's definitely a favorite of mine. Carnation Cafe is a close second, along with....oh geez, I could go on and on. Just one day though doesn't give me much time to eat lol

I understand. It's not easy to choose somewhere for one day.

Two weeks from today I'll be in Disneyland!!!!!!!!!!!! I know it's way too far to look out but accuweather shows mid 70's! I hope that holds out to be true!

So question...since no one responded on my thread and hoping "Laurie" you may know. If I buy things in the park and have them sent to PPH...is there a minimum purchase required or do they send any and all purchases to the hotel?

I think any purchase can be sent back to the hotel....just be aware that you won't be able to pick it up until the next morning. So if you buy it on Tuesday....you can't pick it up from the bell desk until Weds morning.

I've been trying not to look at accuweather yet......afraid of wet stuff & don't want to start worrying about it quite yet.....lol
