One-day Park-hopping?

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but just wanted to double-check:

We are taking a trip soon to WDW. My MIL is joining us for the trip. She never wants to hit more than one park per day. Half a day in a park in the morning, and she has had her fill.

So I bought her a 3-day non-park hopper ticket (the rest of us have APs).

Now, however, it looks like on one day, we are all going to AK in the morning, and then having dinner at Rose & Crown in the evening.

I’m going to have to upgrade her three-day ticket to a Park Hopper in order to get her into Rose & Crown, aren’t I?

Thx.

Yeah. It's going to cost you almost $65 after tax. You might want to consider a resort or Disney Springs restaurant if that's the only reason to upgrade. But if it's a must do, you'll have to.

Do you have other days where she won't be going to a park? A four day non-hopper costs about the same as a three-day hopper, so that's another option if you have to spend the extra money and could spread out your days.

(These are Disney prices... I don't know third party prices offhand.)

Can you just upgrade to park hopper starting the day you need to hop?

For example, if you are doing AK and Rose&Crown on day two, upgrade on Day 2 (which means you are only paying to hop days 2 and 3)
Is that possible??

Unless you were planning AK and Epcot for day 1...

It costs the same whether you add it for 1, 2, or 3 days.

Unfortunately, no. She’s just there for the three days. I would see about changing the restaurant to Tiffin’s or someplace in DS as you suggest, but everyone already has their hearts set on R&C.

I appreciate the suggestion, but @subtchr is right. You can’t upgrade just part of a multi-day ticket like that. It’s all or nothing.

Well, I learned something! Thank you!
Sorry about the $65
But on the bright side, it’s not that expensive for Disney....

Years ago, I read in a popular Disney guide that to prep for Disney, you need to flush a hundred dollar bill down the toilet. And if you can do that without flinching, you were ready to go to Disney!

Another choice is to make Epcot the park to visit that day.

Nothing beats fun at WDW.

what time and is MIL riding Avatar? if she isn't riding would she be willing to meet you at EPCOT in afternoon instead of morning at AK

Great thought! Unfortunately, Flights of Passage is a must-do for her on this trip.

It’s fine. The $65 (or whatever) ticket upgrade isn’t going to kill me. Again, I was pretty sure I knew the answer. I just wanted to float the issue here to see if anyone had a super double-secret-probation workaround.
