One Day, One Park...which one?

My wife and son [15] and myself want to go to Universal for the first time this summer [August]. We will only be able to go for one day and one park - wondering what park to do for that one day.....

My son LOVES Harry Potter so IOA seems like the obvious but I wanted to hear some feedback and suggestions.

I think IOA is probably the best choice for you guys for this time. Your son will love Spiderman, Jurassic Park, etc.

If your son loves Harry Potter there's no reason not to go with IOA. Both parks are great, but I think IOA has more top-notch attractions -- and more thrills -- than US.

That said, I couldn't imagine not getting a two-park ticket and at least hitting Rip Ride Rockit, Mummy and Simpsons at US at least once!

Another vote for IOA but it's not a lot more to upgrade to the two park ticket. So if you find you have the time and interest, you can upgrade at Guest Services.
