One day car rentals near DL

Hi. Anyone had any experience renting a car near Disneyland for a drive along the coast? Are there any good local rental places or just the chains? Thanks.

We have not used them before, but we have a reservation booked for a rental at Alamo's Downtown Disney location for an upcoming trip. I believe they are on the end of Downtown Disney, by the Disneyland Hotel.

We used that Alamo too-just in case, make sure you don't plan to drop it off after their business hours. They claim to have after-hours drop off, but that's not really the case. We had a nightmare experience trying to get it back into their lot (which is a shared lot with Disney-maybe the Grand Californian? I forget-my husband dealt with it). Also they are near impossible to find in Downtown if you're not on foot.

There are a few Enterprise locations around Disneyland. I know of the desk at the Hilton Anaheim across from the convention center. There's also one on Katella and another on Euclid. At least for a 24 hour rental starting noon tomorrow, I'm getting the best price for the one on Katella. They can pick you up within a reasonable distance; you'll need to call in and ask for it after making a reservation, and just before they pick you up, although I've heard that employees don't like doing it. I myself would leave a tip for the driver.

We like the Alamo rental but get the car and leave DL for San Diego. But the rates through Costco were good.

We got a deal from Hertz in Anaheim - I think it's on Harbor. They have a shuttle that came to the Paradise Pier and picked us up; we got a midsize for $35 in June - we drove down to Dana Point to go whale watching. The car was cheaper than a taxi, uber, or even bus for all three of us.
