Hi: Maybe going to key west. We have our two adult children, daughter and son to join us a few days later. How do people who need three beds sleep in a one bedroom when there is only the one sofabed. I realize that the one bedroom sleeps 4 but we need three beds.
Do we need to take along one of those air beds with us, is there room for a twin airbed? Staying in a two bedroom is too expensive at this time.

Presume you mean Old Key West at WDW and not Key West, Florida... :teeth:

OKW has plenty of room for your twin airbed if you want to go that way.

Also keep in mind you will not have linens, blankets, or pillows for your airbed, but you can 'share' among the bedding you will have.

Unfortunately you said adult children. Unlike the other resorts, OKW has two sofas, one a pull-out, and the other standard. However the standard one is not full size, seats perhaps 2 people instead of 3. It would be a little short to sleep on for an adult, but would work for a small child.

The two sofas do give you a lot of cushions though. If you're not looking for too much comfort, you might be able to create a makeshift bed on the floor, out of all the cushions.

Your only options would be to take or rent another bed, have one sleep on the floor or get a 2 BR.

The living room in an OKW 1BR is huge. There is plenty of room for a single inflatable mattress or one of those portable cots, if you bring one of these.

Now, having said that, please realize everyone would be much more comfrortable with a 2BR. Not only does the second bedroom have 2 queen size beds, but there's another bathroom and 2 more closets.

Time for a 2 bedroom-you get 3 beds
Funny, I thought the op already addressed this....

I hope we aren't heading down the occupancy road.....
:rolleyes1

Well, there isn't an occupancy issue...there will be 4 people staying in a 1BR, which is perfectly well within the occupancy requirements for the room size. The issue is that there are 4 people, 2 of whom cannot sleep together.

At OKW, you'll have plenty of room for an aerobed, so that would be the easiest solution. As another poster recommended, make sure you bring enough linens for the aerobed, as linens would not be supplied.

Enjoy your vacation!

I've stayed in a BWV and VWL 1 bedroom with 4 adults total. One of the adults brings a twin aerobed and sits it on the floor next to the king in the master bedroom (there's not enough room in the living room at BWV or VWL, OKW there would be room there). I thought the 1 bathroom would be an issue in the morning but we worked it out fine. I usually jumped in the shower first before eating breakfast, while others ate breakfast first. Plus you have the extra sink by the tub.

It's called a Love Seat, Bill. ;)

Or your two adult children could act like they were kids again and sleep together in the sleeper sofa.

Or you and your daughter could sleep in the king bed in the bedroom and your DH and husband could sleep on the open couch.

For a couple of nights that would also work well.

If possible, or still available, you could downgrade yourselves to a studio, and then rent your children a studio for the days that they will be joining you. Two studios are about the same cost as a one bedroom. You could ask that the front desk make the studios as close together as possible, hopefully they would do the best they could. Just another option, otherwise someone would have to do an air mattress.

Hi: Thanks for the info, I guess I will have to really think about it. The two bedroom sounds really great, but I am not sure about the financial part of it, even with renting points from someone rather than going thru central res.. I really would like to try the resort and see if we like it so much to buy into a dvc eventually.

I forgot that the one bedroom had only one bathroom, we stayed in two rooms at the frenchquarter and the two rooms and two bathrooms came in very handy.
So basically there are no one bedroom units that would have two queen beds in the bedroom part, and a pullout in the livingroom.

That is 100% correct. To get the two bathrooms you need a twobedroom and there is not one bedroom setup that will give you two Queens and a pullout.

2 studios would be a lot fewer points than a 1-bedroom AND you'd get 4 beds and 2 bathrooms! :) This is always the way we go... Unless you see yourselves really needing the living space (plus the kitchen, big tub and washer/dryer) or have to all be in the same unit together, I'd opt for 2 studios.

In most cases the studios is exactly half of a 1 Br or nearly so. And a 2 BR is not that much more than a 1 BR and significantly less than a studio and 1 BR separately.

Hi: Your right the two studios are probably the way to go. Do we still get a balcony/porch to sit on.? Also for a quiet river view or woods view any suggestions what to ask for. (we need to be away from bus fumes for medical reasons) Thanks,

Deb.

If you're talking about OKW, most of the studios have a view of alot of vegitation...all are nice though. Yes you will get a balcony no matter what. As for requests, since views aren't much at any of the studios, I wouldn't bother with any accept for maybe preference as to Smoking or Non-smoking and which section you may prefer(like near Hospitatlity house or turtle pond area,etc.)...maybe put "away from a bus stop" which is an unusual request I'd think since most people request the oppossite when it comes to proximity to a bus stop;)

Get two studios. It's the cost of the one bedroom and you have plenty of beds and two bathrooms. Just a suggestion.

I would stick with the one-bedroom and use the aerobed rather than going down to the 2 studios. The rooms are so much bigger. You may only have one bathroom, but the rooms are so much bigger and nicer than the studio. I would experience the one-bedroom and have your whole family together for communication issues, if nothing else. Plus you have the full kitchen and the washer and dryer.

We use aerobeds all the time and it works out well. There is a tremendous amount of floor space and it is not an issue having the extra bed on the floor.
