We are white card members and looking hard at adding on 150 points to get the blue card. Our front runner is VGF right now because of the cost, location, and maintenance fees. However, we typically use one bedrooms and two bedrooms. How hard is it to get one of those room types at the 11 month mark? I know all the new units are studios.

There are a lot of dependencies...including time of year, special events etc. We have pretty much been able to get what we want -- BUT -- it's going to change when the influx of new points fully enter the system. I know a lot of us are curious to see just how hard it's going to be to get anything above a studio once all the new points hit the system. So whatever happened in the past, won't be the same going forward. Still you have as good a chance as anyone when booking right at the 11-month mark. So having it as a home resort is better than not in that case.

Seems fine so far at the 11 month mark. I’ve been checking for Christmas and March Break (we follow school calendar) which are admittedly high point seasons. But even at 8 or 9 months I’m not seeing any issues with availability.

1 bedrooms will always be the last to go and I do think you will see them there at 11 months most of the time.

But, lots of new points eligible to book them now so we don’t know for sure how it will shake out.

I do think it will be very difficult at 7 months for non owners and think anyone who owns and wants, should plan to book right at 11 months.

We added 300 VGF points for the main purpose of using 1 and 2 bedrooms.

There are 94 “potential” 2 bedrooms at VGF. 47 dedicated 2BRs and 47 lock-offs which can be split into a studio and a 1BR. So far, the 1BRs have been easiest to get, because there was such demand for studios, it always left a bunch or orphaned 1 BR available.

With the 200 studios just added, there will be more competition for the 1BR and 2BR, but these have been generally available at 11 to 9 months. It has been the studios that disappear on the first day of the 11 month window.

We will not know for sure until the resort sells out.

At the 11 month mark, 1 bedrooms are always available.

As are 2 bedrooms.

It’s possible this may change with the new influx of studio-only points. But I really doubt it.

The OP may already know, but for any not-yet-members, I think it important to mention that there are no "studio-only points."

Yes, what's being casually referred to here on DISboards as VGF2 are indeed only studios, and modified hotel rooms at that, lacking some features of the original VGF studios. However, anyone buying VGF points is simply buying points that can be used at either the original building or the Big Pine Key conversion.

The significant difference is that Big Pine Key will have no multi-bedroom villas. (And for a number of prior owners, that the BPK resort studios are not "real" studios.)
