We were one of the crazy ones that were forced to wait to fly out until the day of the cruise thanks to a dance recital scheduled for the previous day. Although cute and fun, I would rather have enjoyed some relaxation and sunshine the prior day.
Tip: Listen to what disboarders say, fly out the previous day and stay in a hotel!
We finally arrived in Jacksonville around 10:00 am the day of the cruise. I am sure many of you have kids. Although my husband is a pretty much a wannabe race car driver, my son's bladder and boredom still prevented us from arriving to the port before 1:30 pm. Listening to board tips, DH dropped off rental car at
Avis while I checked in.
Tip: Again, good tip from board, Leave him with driver's license and Take the passport from one member of party, have them return the car, and the rest of the party head to terminal.
LET THE LINES BEGIN.
Tip: Have patience at while checking in.
You first have your ID's checked while entering the gate.
Next you stand in a security line
Once you make it in the terminal, you stand in another line to complete check in.
No real direction from staff, but did remember on boards you can check your kids in on the ship or in the terminal. 3-year-old on verge of melting down from excitement (one of many-lucky us). If line, I would bypass checking him in on head to the ship. Not much of line, still waiting for DH for 40 minutes so figure head that way. Pick-up our pager (do not lose, most expensive thing you will buy from cruise that doesn't have the mouse on it-lucky us we did not lose), get asked a few questions and head back to meeting place (ship model) to wait for DH who shows about 10 mintues later. Get photo pictures taken quickly and board ship. Announce names- decided to have them say "Kaden's family" (in attempt to keep the beast from coming out) and head PC for lunch after 2:00. By this time we are STARVING...I tried the strawberry soup (very tasty!!) and light food to hold over until dinner in PC later that night. As LC stated we missed the meet and greet much to my dismay. I figured we were going to be late and as a result I think some of my fish extenders were delivered to surprised guests. Luckily someone put a note in our FE on room changes (thank you).
TIP- Do FE, yes delivering can be a pain, but I am not sure if we just had a really GREAT group but my son made out like a bandit! Seriously, we were spoiled to the max! Thanks to each of you!!
Coming-up: Call nanny 911, my kid is "cheeky" in the club..rain rain in Castaway Key...
For all those fellow cruisers it is STILL raining here in Jacksonville as we remain in town for a wedding this weekend. Then the post-cruise-vacation depression will start.
