HELP!!!!

I am new to WDW and all of the planning. I am REALLY enjoying the fact that all of you are such a wealth of information for this newbie.

But I seem to be stuck. :guilty:

Should I TAKE ADVANTAGE of Extra Magic Hours

or

Should I AVOID the parks with Extra Magic Hours that day????

I keep hearing both!

What do YOU think???

TiA!

Go to EMH morning if you get out once the crowds start coming- around regular opening time. Stay away from evening EMH like the plague!!!!

Have Fun!

If it’s the early morning hour we try to be there from early on and switch parks once it starts getting crowded. The late magic hour we just did for first time in January and it seemed the park attendance increased as soon as the gates wore “closed” instead of lightening up.

Early hours, as OP noted, we like to be early, right on the rope for the drop.
We do like extra evening hours, most nights, but will leave earlier to avoid standing rm only on buses or traffic jams when we take a rental. If we are intent upon staying late(not often, we're poopers! :teeth: ) we will stay until the last moment & suck it up-often forgoing standing rm only on one bus to wait longer for seats on the next bus-

Option 3: Do the morning ones only. Especially at the Magic Kingdom, we found the evening ones were a waste of time. The lines were longer than during the day.

We've never had a problem with evening EMHs. I say go to both! Then you can decide for yourself for future visits if it is worth it! With evening EMHs the park usually clears out before the last hour. Then most rides are walk on! If you and your family can stay up that late then go for it!

Thanks so much for your help so far.

I have to ask, though, about the EVENING extended hours not being good.....

Some of the times, the parks...Epcot for example are extended after 11:00...till 2:00 ! I just assumed these times would be more quiet because the young ones wouldn't be up this late?

So, I'm wrong? These are the crowded times?

We always utilize morning EMH . For MK, we get there 1/2 hour before park opens. For the other parks, we get there for park opening. It's always worked out well for us. We get alot done in a short amount of time. Depending on how crowded it gets, we usually hop to another park. (We always purchase park hopper tix)

As for evening EMH, we went to MK and Epcot. They were VERY crowded.
We watched the parade/fireworks and rode a few attractions, but the lines were very long. It took a long time just to get a snack. Not sure if we would do this again. :flower:

Wow! I'm just really surprised that they evening ones are so crowded! They are open pretty late.

I'm glad I asked. Thanks so much everyone!!! :wave2:

What time of year are you all referring to? Is this during a normally busy time of year like spring break or summer days? We are going in early March, I would think it wouldn't be as crowded during the EMH at night.

Thanks.

YES YES YES!!! We skip the morning ones but ALWAYS go to the evening ones and have been able to walk on anything we wanted to (MAY 2005). We planned our schedule around the evening ones this year.

Your scaring me. :scared1: I had planed on doing evening EMH's. These were not avalible the last time we were there. (2004). But we always took advantage of E ride nights. :rotfl2: These were great. Oh, we go in August. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We did the evening extra magic hour in January (during the slow time) and we couldn’t believe how many people there wore, the MK was open from 9-12 and at first our thoughts was that it was going to ease up by 10 or 11 because of all the kids, we gave up by 11:00 because the only people that seemed to be staying longer in the park wore the ones with little kids. We may try the EMH in the evening one more time but we will skip it at MK.

We will be at WDW from June 12-20th this year.

Maybe I'd better revise the poll.....EMH's-yes, no, just mornings, just evenings...

I'm new here...can I make a revision to the poll??

Even though I chimed in with a no for the poll, I'd have to say that during "value" season, evening EMH isn't that bad. When all the parks close earlier, why not go and at least just enjoy being in a park.
I'd have to keep to my NO vote though, if you do not have the park hopper. People without the hopper option staying in a WDW resort will all go to the EMH park all day, making it a more crowded park choice for the day.

I can't answer the poll because it depends on what park and what day.

In June - Morning EMH isn't a problem usually. I always do the morning EMH. I once got through 7 rides in one hour that way...the most heavily crowded ones as well:

Peter Pan, Winnie The Pooh, Dumbo, Space Mountain, The Speedway, Buzz Lightyear and then jumped on TTC.

Evening EMH is okay if you're going during the slower time. I did Evening EMH in MGM and the lines were crazy! The shows weren't too crowded, but the rides were. In MK, EMH wasn't too bad. But again, I went in February. I say, do EMH if you have time, but if not, it's not really that big of a deal.

I've been wondering about MGM morning emh on a Sat. in May? would it be crazy or do people sleep in? :teeth:
I've never done either, but my friend did the evening emh's in July and said it was great because it was so hot during the day. They would go in the mornings, go back to the hotel for the afternoon, go in the pool and go to dinner and then go back out to the parks at night. She said a couple of rides had short wait , but nothing major and said it was totally worth it.
