I wanted to ask anyone who knew a couple of questions please :
How much is the pet fee ? I was quoted two different prices so now I'm confused.
How much is the washer and dryers ? I know this has been addressed before but can't seem to find the thread.
If you stay in a pet prefered site can you walk to the marina to catch the boat ? Is it wheelchair accessible ?
Thanks Alot for all your help. :listen:

This is based on what I remember from last October re. the pet fees. It was, I believe, 5 bucks a night for the campsite. The kennel fee was 7 dollars per day for FW guests, I am not sure of the overnight cost.

It is $2 per load to wash and $2 to dry.
Average size machines, the dryers will just barely get the clothes dry.
The busy time for the machines is first thing in the AM.
Detergent, dry bleach and softener are available for $1 each for a single load size

As of January, the pet fee is $5.00 per day no matter how many pets you have. This is just to have them in your camper, does not include the kennel fee. Our Bassett Hound and Yorkie stay in our motor home when we go to the parks, so I don't know how much the kennels are.

We stayed in loop 700, it is an easy walk/bike ride to both The Meadows and The Settlement & Marina area. This is the loop we always request. 700 does not, however, have it's own comfort station, you have to walk across the street to loop 400.

This May we'll be staying in loop 800, which is just behind 700 and a bit closer to The Meadows. 700 wasn't available when we made the reservations - oh well any site in Fort Wilderness is better than anywhere else. :)

44 days, 0 hours, and 6 minutes til we're back at the Fort and Star Wars Weekend!!! :woohoo:

Haven't been in an RV in years. Do they have AC now? From what I remember as a kid playing in my grandparents camper they get extremely hot during the day. How do you/ your pets handle this?

AC, forced air heat, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, hot water, shower, flush toilet, tv - it's not much like camping anymore! So let the deluxe resort guests feel sorry for us while we "rough it." I'll just throw another steak on the gas grill, open up a cold one out of the fridge, and enjoy the great outdoors. :thumbsup2

Wow wilderness guy- sounds great. It's like a resort on wheels. I love to camp, but my meager income will only allow a tent (bought on clearance for $40 no less :rolleyes1 ) I guess my real concern was for the pups. Sounds like they can be left in AC comfort for the day while mom & dad are at the parks? Being an animal lover I'm always concerned for them.... :dog2: :cat: pug: :dog:

My concern is power failures and what would happen if my dog was stuck inside the camper during the heat of the day. That's why we choose to kennel him during the day - at least someone is with him all day if something happens, and the kennel staff has my cell number in case of an emergency.

Wow, I didn't know there was a time when rv's didn't have a/c. What would be the point??

Our pups would be miserable in the kennel so in the motor home they stay - with the a/c or heat depending on the time of year. Normally we only go to WDW in the fall/winter months, so them getting too hot has never been a problem. We also always take a midday break, return to the rv for a rest, snack and dog walk.

We will be going in May to Star Wars Weekend - we'll be sure to go back to the rv midday to check on them and cool off. :thumbsup2

Thanks for info. I guess I never really camped in an RV- just a camper, the towable kind, but not a pop up. It had a toilet and "kitchen" but no a/c and we used the stove for heat- probably a really bad idea in hindsight. But I'm talking about late 70's, early 80's. I suppose there have been huge improvements since then. I need to get with the program :confused3 :rotfl:
I've seen too many animals locked in hot cars not to at least ask though(I always wondered what people did with their pets while camping)- it's good to hear that you keep your guys comfy and do a mid day check in case of something like a power failure, like wilderness guy mentioned. Disney Pets Rock!

I would guess most RV's/motorhomes have generators as well, so a "power failure" isn't likely to cause much of a disruption. Although, a generator can fail, too. I see them "running" for long periods of time, similar to that of a tractor-trailer and don't think anything of it.

FYI pet fee is $5.00 per pet per day.
If you are charged less than that just smile and enjoy the savings.
Also, you can walk everywhere in FW. It just depends on how much you like to walk. FW is about 750 acres and 1 mile from front to back. It's about like walking around EPCOT.
