My mother is taking our family (11 in all) on the Dream in June. We would like to treat her to something special on-board...spa treatment, massage, etc. I would love some suggestions from those who have done one of these and really loved it. Also, would you suggest the day at sea to this? Any feedback is appreciated!!!

My DMIL took me, her 2 daughters, and all of our kids on a cruise in 2014. I decided as a thank you I would treat her to brunch at Palo. I think it was one of her favorite parts of the trip! It was nice for her to get away from the grandkids (as much as we love them, they are loud) and Palo is, in one word - amazing. When we walked in, it was so quiet we just stood there for a moment and enjoyed the peacefulness. The service was superb, the food was amazing, the view was breathtaking. We took our sweet time eating and enjoying the experience. Before we left she told me she was just going to go back to our room and read and enjoy the quiet a bit longer. I think it was exactly what we both needed during that cruise!

They do have a decent selection of in-room gifts you can pre-order. They have a package with a DCL bath robe and a bottle of champagne or Apple cider for the non-alcoholic version. The candies and such are also pretty tasty.

You can also gift additional onboard credit as well.

Our DD gave us a floral arrangement. It arrived the first day and was still fresh at the end of our 7-day cruise. Customs wouldn't allow us to take it off the ship, or I would have taken it home with us.

That's the only reason I haven't done flowers. It would be so sad not to get to take them off but they do look awesome!

I would suggest a pass to the Rainforest so she could use the saunas, waterfall showers, whirlpool and my personal favorite, the heated loungers. :)
Also, a selection of books for some quiet time, reservations at Palo, the amenity packages are pretty awesome too.

On board credit is also a good thing in case she wants to pick up some things for herself, but if she is anything like my Mom, she will spend it on others and not herself. Which is why I suggest things that only she will be able to use. :)
