Ok, I am seriously thinking about organizing a family-reunion type cruise for my siblings and their children. I have a HUGE family (10 siblings, with 34 kids between us).

I am going to send out a letter of interest, with a cruise date of late 2006, or 2007, to give some family members a chance to save. Can I take advantage of the onboard booking, and book while onboard? I would have a different family in each stateroom, can I do that? Or can I only book staterooms I personally will be occupying?

I'm not sure if they will let you, but if they do, are you prepared to pay the deposit on all of those cabins? We we rebooked on board, the CM took a credit card on the spot for the deposit.

We booked two staterooms while on our last cruise. You have to have a name (adult) for each room and be prepared to fork over the deposit for each stateroom.

Hope this helps.

I agree with the other posts - you should be able to book as many cabins as you want as long as you pay the deposit. And if you are not sailing until September, that give everyone some time to discuss dates and get a deposit together for you.

I have been on two Family Reunion cruises and doing another for Thanksgiving - LOVE IT!

Yes you can book as many as you want if they are availalbe. Just contact a great TA.

Thanks all!

I am well aware of the $200/pp deposit required at the time of booking. :scared1:

I am going to collect the deposit money from everyone who wants to go.

I plan on taking advantage of the onboard booking incentive. A TA can't help me with that. I like doing my own planning/booking anyway. Thanks!

Actually you may get a better rate if you book a "group" rate. Similiar to TA's blocking rooms. At my kids school many families I think 15 booked as a group and got a significant reduction in cost. I would inquire about group sales or call a local TA to ask about blocked rooms!

Good Luck.

On our last cruise I booked rooms for my family for the next cruise. I was told that I could only book the same number of rooms as we had people on the cruise. There were 3 of us so she said I could book only 3 rooms. I needed 5 but didn't push it because 2 of the couples weren't sure about going. You should call and ask before you collect all of that money.

We were able to book an additional room for my parents when we rebooked for oursleves...we were able to get the onboard rebooking discount along with the $200 stateroom credits :) ...I only wish I would have thought of putting either one of our girls in their room or one of use....to get an additional CC gift.

I like the idea of booking for a family reniun...I may have to bring that up.

I think that NJ Cruisers is correct. We were told that you could only book as many staterooms as you had adults on the current cruise (so you could have a staterrom in each name). We were therefore able to book 2 rooms but next year when my daughter turns 18 we would be able to book 3. Now, could I persuade my UK loving in-laws to sample the magic of DCL I wonder.
