? on unused day on park pass

Our last visit to WDW, my dd and I did not use the final day of our 5 day park hoppers (the rest of the family did). For our next trip, which we think is going to be about a 12 day trip, we figure our best bet will be the 10 day MYW ticket. Normally we would buy these in advance to get the discount. I've read here that you are better off not turning in an unused day towards a new ticket, that it's better for you just to use up that ticket. But if we just use our unused day on our old park hopper, I believe we don't have the option of getting a 9 day MYW ticket. Or do they sell 8 and 9 day MYW tickets? I only saw 7 and 10 on Deb Will's site. (I hope you all can follow this!)

So my question I guess is, if I turn in my unused day towards a 10 day ticket, how much exactly do they credit me towards that new ticket? Am I really not making out that well if I do that?

Also, are there only certain places you can turn in old tickets? Can you do it at the Disney resorts?

1.) Receiving a credit for a ticket can only be done at Guest Relations. Unfortunately, Guest Relations doesn't operate out of the resorts. They are only at the parks and Downtown Disney.

2.) There are NO 8 or 9 day Magic Your Way tickets.

3.) I don't know when you purchased the ticket, so I don't know how much you'll get for it. The credit is based on the gate price of the pass. They would then divide that number by 5, and you would get that much. If you bought it last year, you would get about a $60 credit for the one remaining day. Without non-expiration, the difference between an advance purchase 7 day premium and an advance purchase 10 day premium is about $10 per adult.

SO, what you could do, is just set that one day aside for later use, and buy a 10 day ticket now. It's really not that much more.

Thanks for the info. We did buy the tickets last year so I guess it wouldn't be too bad to credit it towards a new ticket. But DH has an old ticket (from 1988!) that I guess would be better just to be used than traded in.

Do not buy a 3 to 7 day MYW ticket with the intent of using up an old ticket of any vintage as-is as well. Old tickets work excellently when used as-is for the 11'th or 12'th day of a vacation after completely consuming a 10 day ticket. Trading up not so old tickets is not too bad, but the 1988 ticket is better off kept as-is. If you buy the plus pack you may find that the 10 day ticket lasts all 12 days if on some days you only use plusses.
