On This Day in History: Indiana Jones Adventure Opening Ceremony 1995

Thanks for posting.. I had forgotten when the opened this ride. We had listened to "Mark and Brian" who was syndicated here going to visit the ride and broadcast details. I remember going later in the year and waiting 2-4 hours in line. When you entered the building, you were given a card to decode the writing on the wall, so you had something to do once you were in the building.

I have been disappointed that they don't have you wait inside the building now, but most of the line queue's outside the building and they let you in groups into the building and you walk the rest of the way inside to the projection room. We were wondering if there is a building code or safety reason they stopped the queuing inside.

We went a week after Indy opened. The line stretched out of Adventureland clear back to Small World. Estimated at over 4-5 hours. I've never seen any line wind itself through the park like that. CM's were spaced along the line to direct people and allow gaps for cross traffic. We came back the next morning for Magic Morning and had only a few minute wait.

Space Mountain also changed to not allow people to que inside. I assume for safety reasons. Everyone now waits outside and only a small group let in at a time. In Spaces early years the que was inside as well as outside and down an escalator near whats now Honey I Shrunk the Audience. On a busy day the line for Space stretched down that escalator back to Star Tours, about 2-3 hours.

My all time favorite ride!!
It is one of the reasons I like DL better than WDW. :)

Happy Birthday INDIANA JONES RIDE!!!! :upsidedow I was never there for the opening day, but I can only imagine what it would have been like for such a popular movie. I wish someone had some pictures of that day.

I cant wait to see what kind of lines the Little Mermaid and the new Star Tours is going to bring!

I still have my decoding card. :goodvibes When we were there in Jan. my son had me take pictures of the walls so he could use my old decoding card to figure stuff out when we got home. I think my longest wait for Indy was near 3 hours -- summer of 1996.

In both cases of Indy and Space I had always assumed it was because of FP and not safety. :confused3
