On the road to a healthy ME! Jog along with me!

Wendy: you are on! 4 lbs by August 1st. I'll have to weigh in tomorrow to get that starting #, so you are a little ahead, but thats ok. These are achievable goals, and we'll both do it! You are lucky you aren't an emotional eater, because I'll bet you rarely get bored, especially when you've got 10 hr days to work!

Good luck to us both!

Hello all!

Thanks for stopping by while I was away. Went to my parents, my dad is having problems with his kidneys. He has lost enough use of them since May that they are going to do a transplant as soon as things get organized. I think one of my siblings should be a perfect candidate. I am not able to donate because of my health and such. Oh well, I will be there for everything else. He is very mellow, more so than I have ever seen. I tell him not to worry, the best will always happen. My mom isn't as worried as my dad. She agrees with me. It will all work out. He doesn't want to do dialysis. He wouldn't do very well with that anyhow.

Beth, I am on a good start! So, remember, August 1st is the WI day for us!
We can do it!

Tracey, I am very sad about DS leaving. We got his class schedule, and he is in the highest freshman calculus and chemistry. I pray for the best for him, and for his success. He is a bit of a momma's boy, but I certainly don't mind. He will always be my baby. Just a very big and grown up baby.

He is really excited about his upcoming vacation with his best bud. They leave on the 12th for 5 nights. They will have lots of fun! I just hope he remembers to take pictures! HA!

Off to finish catching up!

Still on the wagon and even drinking more water.

Wendy

Wendy:

 to you & your family re: your Dad! Positive thinking is the absolute best thing you can have right now. My thoughts are with your family, and I'm sending all good karma your way.

So the 12th is the day your son goes off to WDW...thats so exciting. Focus on that! That's something nice to focus on, and it sounds like you could use a little positive diversion.

Keep up the good work on your healthy habits, and let us know if there is anything we on the boards can do!

Beth

Hi Wendy! Hope all is well with you and your family. I'm sorry to hear that your dad has been ill.

Looks like our sons will be in WDW at the same time. I'm jealous...we don't have a trip in the planning stages like we usually do.

Take care and post if you get a chance. Denise

Hey ladies!

So Dee, is your DS staying on property? Mine is. He loves being there. He is just staying at pop century, but what else does 2 young men need but a shower and a place to sleep? I doubt they will even notice that there is a pool or a gift shop! :goodvibes

Yes Beth, I have to agree, that I am focusing on the good stuff. My dad goes for a ultra sound thursday to give us a better time frame. I really wish I was going to share a few of the moments with my son while he is in Disney, but we do have to let them grow up sometime. He got his cell phone service today. We thought it would be good for him to start paying a few bills in his name for that dreaded 'you need a credit score' to get thru life.

I did buy him a few disposable cameras to take with him on his trip. He will not use the photo pass stuff. I just hope he remembers he has those cameras. I am sure he will use at least one of them for his breakfast in Norway with the princesses. :goodvibes He was pretty intent that I make those reservations for him and his buddy. Always my sweet young boy!

Well, off to catch up with other journals.

Ciao all!

Wendy

Hey Wendy! I'll be thinking of your dad tomorrow. Hopefully the ultrasound will give you some good news, and at least you'll know a little bit more. I think the most frustrating thing about supporting someone who is dealing with their health is the endless piece by piece info gathering. We all want to know everything right at the beginning, and yet it always seems as though its such a process...this test gives us a little info, and leads us to another test, and so on and so on. And, the poor folks who find themselves in the support role (like you) can only wait, research, and be supportive. It ain't easy!! so know I'm thinking of you, too.

Sooooo....4 lbs down???

I'm only 3, but I'm not hung up on some ideal of perfection (there are just too many uneaten Pop Tarts in this world!). I'll take my 3 and hope you beat me by at least 1!!

Beth

Hi Wendy, MY DS will be at POP on the 12 and 13th. They left yesterday for their honeymoon. 4 nights at he Poly, then the Wonder cruise and back to Pop Century. It truly is a small world with our boys at WDW at the same time.

Just re-catching up!

Hope things went well w/ your dad. Very hard time for all of you.

DS alone at WDW! That's sad, scary, exciting all at once!

have a GREAT weekend!

Hello all. Thanks so much for the support. The ultra sound for my dad showed one kidney not working at all. So, he goes back to the Urologist next week to get on a game plan. We will just wait to see what is next.

Well, DS is leaving in a few days to WDW. So exciting for both of us, yet I am scared too. I know that they will have a great time. I wish I could be there, but I think the weather is just too hot for me!

Getting thru his things for college, as what to take, what not to take, and what we need to get. Had to get a calculator today . $150! Crazy. That is the one that the college said he is to have. I bought the protection thing with it so that if it does crash, he can get it replaced. Well worth the cost.

DD was on a short trip with her best bud. They go somewhere each summer for a convention for work, and take DD to hang out with their DD. She was worried at first, but then had such a great time, that she forgot how worried she was! I think she is a little nervous about her brother going off to school. She is excited to see where he will be, and what he will be doing. They are pretty close for being nearly 8 years apart.

I have so much to catch up on. Guess I had better get to it!

Wendy

Hey Wendy:

So sorry to hear about Dad...has anyone in the family been found to be a donation match? How are his spirits?

I'm so excited for your ds...first Disney and then college! What a month!! All sorts of adventures and learning experiences in store for him...thats what life is all about. You know you've prepared him well, and you also know that he's got a lifeline to his family if/whenever he needs to use it, so all will be well.

Don't I sound sane? You must cut & paste and send that back to me next summer when I'm wailing about my boy going off to school.

I was wondering how your dd was taking his move to college. She's going to miss big brother, I'm sure, but just think: now all your daily attention can focus on her! That could be both a blessing and a curse, I imagine. :rotfl2:

Take care, and know we're thinking of you!
Beth

Hi Wendy,

I'm new to journaling, but thought I would pop in to say hi. I saw that you were from MI too. My sister lives in Kentwood.

I am a RN who works in an outpatient renal surgical site. (We maintain grafts/fistulas) Where is your dad getting his work-up done. I will say some prayers for your family.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Wendy
Hope DS is having a fab time at WDW :)
Sorry to hear about your Dad, i hope everything gets worked out for him soon.
Take care

Hello everyone!

I have been neglecting my journal and probably my sanity as well.

I wanted to say thanks for checking in girls!

Tracey, how was the trip! DS had a blast! He ate a bunch of great food, and his favorite was O'Celliar in Canada. He of course mentions the Clam Bake at the Beach Club. (Brat!) Oh well, I will have to remind him to remember those meals while he is enjoying dorm food!:rotfl:

Beth, I live in West MI as well, right near Lake Michigan. I was just in Kentwood the other day, visiting DRS and such. My dad will probably have his work done in Midland. He goes back in a week to see just what he is going to have to do. They live in Beaverton, between Midland and Mt. Pleasant. Pretty much the middle of nowhere. lol Thank you for the prayers. They are well appreciated!

Ok-- Beth I will cut and paste this back to you! It is more hectic than I thought. DD is a bit sad about it. She inquires about him alot, and she is very anxious to get up there and see where he will be living. I am sure she will get accustomed to be an 'only child' pretty quickly! I am still going to put up a princess pic when I run out and get them! The boys had a blast!

I am off to catch up. I am so far behind, I don't think I will ever catch up. I really don't feel ready to leave in 7 hours! Yikes!

Sweet dreams to all!

Wendy

Hi Wendy, so good to see you post! I know several of the "regulars" have really slowed down with their posting this summer. I used to think that summer was more relaxing, but it seems like everyone has been as crazy as me.

Good wishes to you and your family as you go thru the college experience and the medical problems. Keep the faith! Denise

Hey Wendy,

Thanks for stopping by my journal.

It must be very emotional and busy to send your child off to MT. I am sure that he will miss you terribly.

Have a great week and keep us posted on your dad.
Beth

Hi Wendy
hope everthing is going ok.
Dont forget the princess & DS pics ;)

Hello everyone!

Thank you ladies for keeping in touch while I was off traveling the state of Michigan, spending my life savings, and eating out for 7 days straight!

Well, the trip to the UP went well. DS is enconsed in his dorm room and today is his first day of classes. We don't even want to go into how much money we have spent this last month!

Silly me. Thougt my printer was a scanner. But I guess not. SO, since DS used disposables at WDW, I will have to figure out how to get the pics into a digital media. Of course they didn't use Photopass at all while they were there. It will have to be a few more days. I am going to put a photo of him in front of his new dorm. I was sitting when I took this pic so it looks a bit like a forced perspective effect!

I am all ready to get back into a rhythm. Work hours are back to normal with the summer season gone, and with DD in school, it is back to my normal exercise schedule. My exercise schedule for August was terrible. The dieting was average, and the stress level was high! But we made it, and it is all good.

Time to hit the other journals! Take care!

I know I will be on more with mid shifts. With that quiet few hours in the morning, it is so much easier.

Off to catch up!

Wendy

Hi Wendy
