Ok so I have been a bad team leader, having forgotten to start a thread for December:rolleyes1:sad2:. But here we are, closing in on the end of the year already.

Those who are going to WDW in a few weeks, how is the training going? And those doing the Princess should be pretty well into their training plans as well.

I am not actively training myself, but am still running as often as possible outside. I may or may not run a half marathon on New Years day, will see how things go. I am still looking for a race for May or June, something close to home and not too hilly or too expensive. Still working on my weight loss, its not going as well as one would hope, but its a long slow process.

Keep up the good work friends, I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season, keep walking and running and being INCREDIBLE!

Where is everybody? Are you all out running and walking and being busy getting fit and race ready? I do hope everyone is well and that you stop by soon to let us know how you are doing!

Hello INCREDIBLES!

Thanks, Veronica, for being our coach-ess with the most-est! :flower3:

I'm in the beginning stages of my Princess training. princess: Totally not liking TM running but will have to learn to deal as it is already snowy and icy in my little part of the world. There is a walking track -- I think it is 8 loops for a mile -- don't know if that would be worse that doing the TM or not! :scared:

Is anyone from our group doing the Disney Half or Disney Marathon next month?

Take care and keep on moving! :flower3:

Hey teamies! I have been super busy this week. DS jumped off my bed Monday night and landed on his elbow and broke his humerous so badly that he needed surgery! So between that and everything else I have not been on the computer much. He is doing great now so that is good.
I ended up changing my schedule for long runs a little for the next three weeks before my taper. This weekend I ran back to backs of 9 and 11 miles. Next week I am running 15 Saturday and 8 Sunday. Then the week before Christmas I am running 10 and 20.
I feel good today and think the b2b runs will help me prepare a little better for the Dopey.
Veronica- GL with the weightloss, I always struggle more thus time of year.
Lisa- I feel for you girl! The TM is evil!

Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Hello Incredibles!!!!

I am still out run/walking and in the past 4 weeks, only missed one short run the second week of my 16 week princess plan. I've been blessed with dry weather, so haven't needed to find a treadmill yet. I hope it lasts til after the holidays, and then I'll join a gym for the 2 months til the princess.

I hear ya veronica on the weight. I haven't really been focused on losing, but the running is definitely helping me maintain. Maintaining is definitely underrated, and really if I make it through the holidays and stay below 210, I will be happy. I'm at 209 right now, so I hope to lose a couple before Christmas.

We've had a busy weekend. Yesterday was ds's b-day, so we had the family over for a party, and today we just relaxed all day and enjoyed his new toys. I have tomorrow off since he had no school for a teacher training, so we'll go to the park and I'll run in the morning. I'll run wed, and then next sat or sun is a 7-8 mile. I've done 7 once, so I hope to get to 8.

Beth- poor ds. How scary that must have been for all of you. Hope he is doing ok now and not in too much pain. :worship:You are amazing with the dopey training.

Lisa-I don't know your treadmill pain, because I don't have one yet, but I can imagine it's not fun. Do you have tv there? I know someone was talking about watching a movie during her long runs. the track I use is 3 laps for a mile, so I can't imagine 8 laps, but maybe you can mix it up and do some track and some treadmill.

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting those runs and walks in!!

Oooo, Beth! I saw that you have your bib numbers for the Marathon! :cheer2: You're doing the Dopey! :worship:

Hope that your DS is doing better. That was probably tougher on you than it was on him.

Kathy and Lindsay it won't be long until we are getting our bib numbers! princess:

Veronica, for someone who isn't in formal training you sure seem to log a lot of miles on your WISH journal. :thumbsup2

Beth, sorry to hear about your DS. Sending :wizard: for a speedy recovery.

Lisa-you are too funny. Yes I do tend to log miles even though I am not formally training. Gotta keep up my fitness level up so that when I do start training again I am not starting from -57. :lmao: I got new running shoes (they are my gift from my FIL for Christmas, I am not supposed to use them until after he gives them to me, but shh I have already used them). I got Nike's, which I have never been able to wear because they were always too narrow. Now they seem to fit quite nicely. I didn't go with the Saucony again as I did have trouble with them and ended up with an insert. I will see how these work out and if I don't like them, I will try something else. Still looking for a half marathon for May or June too.

I am jealous of those of you going to Disney in a few weeks or in February to race. Wish I was going too, but not in the budget. Oh well, 2013 and the full marathon is my next Disney race at this point, I am looking forward to it.

Keep up the good work everyone. I am proud of all of you ladies and all the hard work you have put in.

Hello Teamies! I hope that everyone is getting in their runs to counteract the holiday food-fest. It amazes me that I can be putting in so many miles and not lose weight :headache: I finished my 15 this morning in 2:18 and I am feeling really good. I have decided to map out a 20 mile run next Sunday with the option to extend it to 22 depending on how I feel. I can't believe I only have one more long run before I taper. DH thinks that I will PR the full, but I think he is crazy:lmao:. I am just hoping for three good runs.

DS is doing really well with his arm. The check-up went well and we are on schedule to have the cast taken off on the 22nd. He will then be in a removable brace for 3-6 weeks while it heals fully. He is going completely stir-crazy with the inactivity and I feel so bad for him:sad1:. He is signed up to do the kid races at Disney so I am going to ask his Ortho Dr if he can walk the 200 meters so he can at least do something. We will see.

Lisa - I am so excited about my numbers too. We will see if they are correct when the waivers are back up after the errors are fixed. I think I am going to bring my new half time to the expo and see if I can move up in the corrals to get more breathing room.

Veronica - GL with the new shoes, my SIL just got some Nike's and she really likes them.

Hope you all are having an INCREDIBLE weekend!

Good afternoon, Incredibles!! I'm still here, plugging away at my princess training plan, and today I did 8 miles!!!! And I can still walk!! Only a little achey, not bad at all. I worry about my foot that had bothered me before, but it's a-ok. I did it at the park where the track is 1/3 of a mile, and started with my usual run 4min, walk 1 min, and was about 14.5 min miles for the first 4, and then mile 5 and 6, I slowed down, so my average was longer than 15 min miles heading toward 16, so for 7 and 8, I played with the intervals, and ended up doing run one min/walk one min, and that really made a difference, and I was faster, and got my pace back down and finished at 14.57 min/mile overall. I am thrilled that I seem to be able to keep that pace as I'm increasing my miles. I may try the shorter run intervals earlier on my next long run, and see how that goes.

The other thing about the longer runs, is I feel bad leaving michael in the car, but since I bought this laptop, I brought it with us, and he hung in the car and watched a movie, so it worked out well. If I was home, he would have been watching tv anyway.:rotfl: Normally he'll play his ds in the car, and play on the playground and walk/run some with me, but it's so cold now, it was nice he could just chill with a dvd. So funny, he dropped the laptop off his lap, and grabbed the keyboard to save it, and changed the language to french somehow, so he was a bit frustrated by that.:rotfl:

After we went and got out christmas tree, and we go to a farm and cut it ourselves, so I walked a little there, and thought I think I'm going to actually be able to do a half marathon, and still be able to walk back to epcot for a margarita!!

Beth- glad ds is doing ok with the arm, and I hope he'll be able to do some of the disney race. So they tell you your number and corral before the race expo, or do you find it online? I am so impressed with your training.

Lisa and Lindsay- I can't believe it will be here before we know it. I am getting so excited, and as I move along in the training, I'm feeling more confident we're going to be just fine.

Veronica-Thanks for being our team leader and keeping these threads going. It is so nice to have a team to come to with any questions and worries.

Happy holidays everyone!!

Kathy-great job on the 8 miles!

Here is a suggestion for keeping the legs feeling good after those long runs: as soon as you can after you are finished, lay on the floor with your butt up against the wall and your legs going up it. Stay in this pose for 10 minutes or so. It drains lymph and other fluids from the muscles in your legs and helps keep the muscles from being stiff later on and the next day.

I didn't think it would work, but honest to goodness it does. I did this after my 12 mile training run this summer and had ZERO pain. People have luck with the ice bath too, but I am not about to sit in a tub full of ice cubes.

Kathy- the numbers were online but the link was leaked prematurely. Hoping the official waivers will be up this week.
Great job with the 8 miles!

Veronica- I am so going to try the legs in the air thing. I always have achey calves and will try anything to help (except the ice bath thing, I too am not intersted in freezing my tuckis off).

I have been so busy this week that I had totally forgotten to pop in and see how everyone is doing! If you are like me, then you are gearing up for Christmas with all the stress that goes with it.

I have pretty much decided on my races for 2011-and I am planning on 4 half marathons. Yep, I am now officially crazy. The first one 1/1/11, the next 4/3/11 the third 8/6/11 (tentative-they haven't actually released the date yet, but if it goes like years past, this will be the day) and 10/9/11. The October one will be my "A" race, my new PR. I am hopeful that I will be at goal weight by then (Oh good lord I hope so), and that I can get closer to a 2 hour finish. My running coach is okay with this plan, thinks I can do it, but I may be a bit burnt out by the time October rolls around. Everything is relatively local, the April race is in Mass, only about an hour drive. I may carpool with some ladies from the local running group for it too.

FIL came over the other day and took my new running shoes so he could wrap them for me for Christmas-DRAT! Wearing the old ones is no good. Only a few more days though.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday with family and friends (or without if that makes you happier:lmao:) and for those running the WDW half or full, enjoy your taper!

Happy Holidays INCREDIBLES!

This is great information, Veronica! :thumbsup2

ITA, Beth, the ice thing doesn't appeal to me at all! :hippie:

I was so happy to do my 5 miles on Friday outside. It was about 35 which was cold to me but it helped my time. :lmao: Realistically it was probably the last time I will be outside until I get to Orlando in February. It did show me that I can use the TM and still be fine for race day. That makes me very, very happy! :dance3:

Our holiday BL thread is in full swing so hope that you will stop by and say hello! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39183647&postcount=1

Too bad you couldn't have put the old ones in the box and had him wrap that! ;)

I'm impressed with all of the races you are running in 2011, Veronica! :goodvibes

Good morning fellow Incredibles!!

I, too have been busy with the holidays, etc, but am keeping up with my training. I did 4 miles saturday, and again played around with the interval times, and the 1/1 seems to pick up my speed as i slow down, but when I did my short run 1/1, I was the same speed as 4/1. So basicly, my plan is to just do what feels right. My hip was a little sore yesterday, and I wonder if I didn't stretch enough saturday because I was in a hurry, and I sat on the gym bleachers for a hour right after. it seems fine now, but I will be careful. I plan for 8-9 next weekend, but with Christmas, and I'm on call the day after, I'm hoping to get wed or thur off from work and will do it then. Last choice is christmas eve morning, but I'm afraid I'll be toast for our party that night.

Other than that, nothing new or exciting with me.

Thanks Veronica for that tip about laying with the legs up. I will definitely try that, because after a long run, it's not just the muscles that ache but my legs to feel stiff and full, so that makes sense that it would help.
And may I say, WOW, 4 half marathons!!:worship::worship: That is an amazing goal, and I know you can do it!!

I was thinking that after the princess, I may need a future goal, but the DL half won't be in the budget next year, but there's a Bay state half marathon in October about 30 min from here, so I may make that my goal. I definitely don't want to do the princess and then fizzle out. Luckily after the princess, spring will not be too far away.

Lisa- So happy you're happy with your pace outside, and I am sure the treadmill training is going to be absolutely fine.

I will second Lisa's invitation to the bl challenge. It's fun, and the support over there has been amazing.

I wish you all a very, merry Christmas!!:santa:

Hey all! I ran my last crazy long run this morning before my taper. I decided to do a back to back this weekend again so I ran 10 miles with DH yesterday and 20 miles this morning with my running buddy (she kept me company for the middle 10 miles since she is not training for anything right now:lovestruc). It went really well. I did the 20 in 3:05! That is by far my best 20 miler (of the 5 I have done) and I feel pretty good today. I am sore and tired but I would be concerned if I wasn't :lmao:. So I have a regular week milage-wise until Saturday when I only do 5 and then 12 on Sunday and then taper officially begins:scared1:. I can't believe I am less than 3 weeks out!!!!!

Veronica - :worship:You are a hoss! GL on all those races!

Lisa - glad you had a good outside run

Well INCREDIBLES its Christmas Eve. I hope Santa brings everyone exactly what they want for Christmas.

I got my running shoes back;), happy girl.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas with friends and family, I will be at my brothers tomorrow. First time in 15 years I am spending Christmas day with my own family instead of DH's.

Merry Christmas from Tokyo! Hope everyone get's what they want. I just wanted to come on here to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'll try to be a better team mate in January.

Hello teamies. Second week of taper and I am feeling ok, I really hate tapering! I ran 8 and 12 this weekend which was good except I have a hard time slowing down. I ended up averaging better than 9 min miles during the 8 and the only reason I didn't do the same for the 12 was the yucky weather. I feel good though so I guess it is ok. This week is a huge drop in miles, eek. I only run 12 total this weekend (4 & 8). But then marathon week!!!!! We are headed down Thursday for the open of the expo. The forcast is for HOT weather. Uggg. Hoping it is wrong and we get closer to what we are having right now, but I will be prepared regardless.
Any other Incredibles want to try to meet up during the races?
