On-site hotels really full Oct 16-19?

My family is planning a trip to Disneyland October 16-19. I was hoping to splurge and stay on-site, but when I checked the Disneyland.com site they said there were no rooms available for any of the 3 hotels! I'm really suprised -- I didn't think Sun-Wed in late October would be busy. :confused3

So, here's the question. Is it true? Could they really be full up? Or are they keeping some rooms in reserve to release later? Or maybe just one of my nights is full?

Curious minds want your opinion.

Thanks!

That's amazing.! I looked on Expedia and they also showed all three Disney properties and some of the offsite ones too as being sold out. There must be a convention that weekend. You might call the hotels directly and ask them what the deal is. What a bummer!

It is busy that week. I know that for AZ kids have a fall break that week and I tryed to book someone on site back at the 1st of the month and I had a few choices to choose from. This is at a time that the 4th night is free and I could not get it for them as they were sold out for the 4th night free.

It's convention time, and a lot of hotels are sold out. You can keep trying & see if you can get a cancellation.

You should call the hotel directly. I think I read here that someone just booked the GCH for sometime in October by calling!

I hope it's conventions that are making the hotels sold out and not DL crowds! We picked October thinking it would be a slow time!

When I called DL Resort to see if any on-site rooms were available Oct 13-16, I could have 2 nights at DH and the Sat. night at GC. She did say to keep calling back, because as the conventions get closer some rooms that were reserved are not needed and put back into the system. Good luck! And keep calling :goodvibes

I got a piece of "junk mail" through my work a week or so ago advertising some seminars at the DLH. I tossed it since I really couldn't justify the seminars, but I do believe it was for that very week in October, and it specified that a block of rooms were being held at the DLH, so you had to reserve a spot by a particular date. I agree with the previous poster -- keep trying; some rooms might be released. You might want to make reservations elsewhere that you can cancel without penalty. Good luck!

What Conventions Are Going On? Is There A List? I Was Also Told Dlh Is Booked For Halloween Week As Well. How Crowded Do You Think The Parks Will Be Then?

I just called this morning looking for a room Oct 13-15th and was told that all 3 hotels are sold out!
The Orange County Convention center has only very small conventions listed for that weekend...nothing that would cause the DL hotels to sell out.
I'm thinking that maybe the local schools are on vacation that week and that is why they are booked but I've been that weekend before and it wasn't that bad.
Any idea when the convention rooms are thrown back into the system? Is it 30 days out?

As the previous poster said AZ schools are out and so are Utah schools.

All the hotels are still full, and the nice lady on the Reservations line didn't know when reserved rooms might be released by the conventions. So I made reservations at the Fairfield Inn instead, but I plan to keep calling back every few days to check on availability.

If anyone else manages to find some free rooms, give me a holler so I can try to get in, too! :)

Thanks for all your help!

I managed to get 2 nts. at the GCH in mid Sept for $169.00 per night via Expedia.

I didn't get anything on site but was just able to get three rooms at the Candy Cane Inn for 124 a night.
