On-site hotel switch during trip

We will be staying one night at the beginning of our trip at PPH before switching over to GCV for the remainder of the week.
  • Does this work how it does at WDW when switching between onsite properties? (We can leave our bags with Bell Services and they will move everything for us.)
  • Will we be permitted to walk over to GCV to use the special entrance for EMH? I have read that the entrance into the resort itself is now restricted to those actively staying there and dining reservation holders. Technically we are checking in that day, but since we will be going over so early for EMH I don't want to run into any problems doing this.
Thank you!

Don't know how it works at WDW but yes bell services can transfer your bags from PPH to GCH
Yes you can use the GCH entrance once you check in. But I have heard that the regular entrance is sometimes faster.

Agree, they will transfer bags. If able, I would probably wheel luggage to GCH bell services myself and check-in on the way to EMH. If your room is ready early, this ensures your bags are ready to go. They will text you when room is ready. I've heard of rooms being ready at check-in 6 AM even.

Yes, use the crosswalk from PPH to GCH checkpoint in the morning with your printed confirmation or screen shot. They will have your name in the system also.

I personally still use main gates instead of the GCH entrance to DCA, because it's no risk and old habits die hard. But some recent reports say the GCH entrance is much improved lately. Maybe due to enforcement at the checkpoint, revised early ticket scanning procedures, or both. Since you are able to cut through the Grand, the main gates are really not much more of a walk. I would decide based on how early you can get to the gate. And if you are not checked in yet with GCH room key, definitely go main gate. You can probably talk your way in with confirmation but, again, why risk it? Morning is too valuable.

Use the GCH entrance/exit easily the rest of the day.

Yes bell services can, but when we asked they made a fuss about it not being part of their usual service and it will take them out of their way etc. We did tip generously, but I felt very uncomfortable so next time I’d move my bags over myself.

Wow. For the price of staying onsite it's horrible that they made you feel that way. I have always heard they happily transferred bags btwn onsite properties. That sucks. Bad Disney.
