I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M LEAVING ONE WEEK FROM MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now that I've got that out, here's my question: I'm going to check my toddler's car seat on the plane (and save myself $70 from renting one), what do you put it in to protect it? I've seen car seats on the luggage carousel in a heavy plastic bag, but I'm not even sure what that is or where to get it. Can anyone help?

P.S. SO EXCITED TO GET MY DOLE WHIP!!!
OK, I'm really done now.:yay:

We have used 2 different types of bags. You can actually get a travel car sear bag from Babies R US or Amazon. It has backpack style straps to carry it through the airport. We have also used a really extra large duffle and then put other things in it, too, like stuffed animals or extra stroller blankets, etc. You can get one of those at Walmart or any store that sells sporting goods. Since you just want to protect it, a cheaper bag isn't bad. The nicer ones have wheels and straps. I think the one I got on the Internet was about $20 and came pretty quick. You can also pay for next day shipping.

We didn't do anything that last time we checked both boys car seats. We just threw them on the stroller, left them at the gate (along with the stroller) with the person there and got on the plane. They were both fine upon arrival both at our destination and home again. I guess I didn't realize that they made bags for them...

Have a wonderful trip!

Sorry, I can't help with the car seat question but HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!! I'll see you on 8/30!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We used something similar. Ours came from www.onestepahead.com. Looking at that site now, they don't offer the same bag we had, but they do have a wheeled carseat travel bag. It's 40 bucks, though! I don't think we paid that much for ours.

We bought a bag from BRU for about $15. It was awesome and when one of our bags was overweight we stuffed some of the stuff in the car seat bag. I didn see alot in plastic bags but I wasnt taking any chances.

Our airline (continental) provided the ginormous plastic bags for our carseats. I know it's too late for the OP, but someone else might need the info...

Thanks for the info. I will check out BRU and see what they have. All along I thought I would just rent one with the car until I realized that to rent the car for the week was $114 and the car seat would be an additional $70. It's almost as much as the car rental. SW Airlines lets each person check two bags at no charge so it won't be a problem to check the car seat.

See you on the 30th Cocowum. BTW, how much time do you think I should give myself to get from the Studios to MK that day. I have an ADR at Brown Derby at 11:40am.

If your ADR is 11:40, I'm sure you'll be there at least an hour...I'd head for the MK as soon as you're finished with lunch. I'm actually going to try and be @ Aloha Isle by 1:30 so I can be on the lookout out for everyone. I've got some iron-on transfers and I think I'll put my DISboard name on the back of my DIS Unplugged t-shirt and the DWFB graphic in my signature on the front -- so I should be easy to spot.

We leave Wednesday night!

Good thing Lisa knows! :goodvibes I have no idea about transportation times. We always drive. :thumbsup2 I tell DH where I want be and when I want to be there and poof... pixiedust: I'm there. ;)

Seriously though, isn't the week before vacation the loooongest week of the whole year! :hyper:

We bought a travel bag at BRU for about $30, it's the one that you can carry on your back like a back pack, and it has wheels so you can wheel it if you want.

We haven't needed to bring a car seat for the past couple of years. But when we did, the airline always put it into one of those big plastic bags for us. We never had a problem, those bags are pretty thick plastic and free.

Have a great time!!
