When can you do this?? We are 16 days out and I want to ask for a certain area at SSR to stay in. Thanks

You can online check in a 10 days out. If you want make a special request you should call the resort directly. I have also heard that you should not check in online if you want a specific room request.

You do online check-in at 10 days out or less.

You cannot make special requests on online check-in. Your requests should be attached to your reservation and you need to call CRO.

To the PP - You do not call the resort directly - you will call a CCC that someone will answer as if they are in the resort. They pull up the reservation and add your requests or read them off to you, if you have made them previously.

I am all for you calling to make requests, but also....

I used online check-in for an August SSR trip, and there were many choices on the check-in form, including location, pools, and floor level. I was able to get the area we wanted, and the highest floor.

There is a great thread on DVC resorts SSR with excellent info -- and sounds like you may already know where you want to stay. I think online check-in will help.

(This has not been my experience with other resorts and online check-in, where there are few if any choices on the form, but for SSR, perfect.)

I'm glad you chimed in....I thought I'd read that the online system had some choices....I was getting nervous that maybe I'd read it wrong.
