When pricing our trip they had an option for a town car from the airport - pricing seemed very high as it added about 400 to the price. Is this right - if that is the case - what does it offer? I usually pay about 75 to go roundtrip - but it has been 2 years. Who is recommended for town car service now? And what should I expect to pay? Last time we used a service that did not give great service, they never let us know we needed to call when we arrived and were very rude and critical of us because we called late and would disrupt the pickup of other customers.

We do not like the bus service because it took soooo long the one time we tried it.

Any suggestion is welcome.

I'm not sure when you last were at WDW or what 'bus service' you used. DME, the bus service in use now, takes on average about 70 minutes from deplaning to resort checkin. The only time I have gotten to my resort in under an hour was the one time I had only carryon luggage and used a towncar service. So, that is one option..one which is free yet has to be reserved.
As far as towncar service prices go...most are in the neighborhood of $100, give or take $10-15. This is not including the tip. You would get a towncar, which would carry 4-5 people, with a grocery stop (in most cases) on the way from the airport. I can't imagine what would come to $400, unless you booked a limo, from Sanford Intl. Airport and even that would be in the $250-300 neighborhood!! At least that's what it was when we used it back in '01.There are plenty of towncar services that offer good service. FL Tours is a board sponsor. Tiffany Towncar has gotten good reviews, as well as many others out there.

Please, A towncar does not hold 5 people comfortably. The price of $400 is outrageous. Dianes prices from Orlando International are about right. The Sanford prices to Disney should run you about $180.00 to $220.00 in a vehicle suited for the number of passengers you have. There are vans, SUV's and town cars available.

Who were you pricing this trip with? surely not Disney.

I was pricing it on the disney site - it is an option if you don't use the bus service. There are only 2 of us and I really don't want a long bus ride to the resort - I prefer the town car - 100 or so is not that bad - it is easier than waiting for the bus and waiting to be dropped off - especiallyh with a late flight.

I priced the town car again on the disney site and unless it has a problem it was over $400 for the roundtrip. That is just too high for me - so I will try one of the other services listed on this site.

Thanks

does anyone know if the price quoted on the website was correct or part of the glitch

Maybe it's not towncar service but "private" shuttle service? Mears shuttle is kind of pricey for what you get. Separate towncar from another company is usually more affordable. Something does sound wrong though.

Lorden Transportation is tops! I've used Dennis for many trips. :goodvibes lordentransportation dot com

There are some others out there, too, but I haven't used them personally. There's tons of info on this forum. :thumbsup2

I'm thinking that whatever the site is referring to has a per person rate? If it's a group of 4, $50 per person each way... $400. Definitely better options.

I believe the OP mentioned 2 persons. I do not know of any service that would charge that much for 2 persons, not even a limo service. I looked for the link but was inable to find it.

I just found a site that lists an SUV stretch (Ford Excursion) for $340 RT... a stretch Hummer is over $500 RT :headache: If Disney is quoting a price, I wonder if it's assigning whatever vehicle is available to them regardless of the OP's party size, needs, etc.

I've put in for quotes on specific rooms on Disney's website and gotten quotes for completely different accomodations b/c of availability. They just seem to throw whatever they have at ya.

I wouldn't even think about booking it through Disney in this case. Either go to a private company site or use DME. The wait for DME bus is not bad. Consider this....when you use a towncar service you have to go to baggage and grab your bags. It can take up to 20-30 minutes to do this. I did it in early Dec and it took close to 25 minutes for our bags to come out!! We were among the last to get all their bags....granted there were three of us traveling. Then, your driver has to go around and retrieve the car, another 10 minutes total..getting to Level 1 with the bags and bringing the car around. It's about 30 minutes to WDW from there. When you use DME, it takes about 70 minutes from hopping off the plane to your resort. That's about the same time amount of time you use with a towncar, and you've spent over $100 for the towncar vs nothing with DME. I understand there are those who prefer the towncar service...just wanted to be clear as far as the DME service goes. It just doesn't take all that long, or make more than 3 stops. And the stops are very fast.
If you want a towncar, I would head to any of those companies you see spoken about on the public boards. Most of us have had very good service with those mentioned. Yes, there are always going to be some negative reports, but every company is going to give not so great service once in awhile.
