I just make a mug of tea and we are set to go - there is no way my DD (and I ;) ) wants to wait and eat first, she's too excited to see what Father Christmas left! :santa:

We do open more presents later on when we see other family members, they get opened after lunch, so thats usually mid-late afternoon by the time we have finished and cleared up.

We don't eat first and we don't even have any little kids. The youngest in our group is 27 but we're wayyyy too excited to eat breakfast first. We get up at 5am make coffee and start opening presents. It takes us a long time because there are 5 of us and we take turns opening presents, so we usually don't finsh opening till like 11am and then we eat lunch.

We usually go through the stockings and Santa stuff then take a break for breakfast.

I think it gives us time and the kids time to let things settle down and appreciate the gifts more.

We always do stockings first, then presents, then breakfast. :)

We always open presents first, and then do breakfast. We're always WAY too excited to wait. My in-laws wait and do gifts in the evening, after we have dinner. It works well for us, as get to participate in all the fun at their house too.

Depends on the year. Christmas day was the only day that my ex and I split custody when the kids were little. So that tradition still continues, everyother year they are at my house Christmas Eve and then go to their mom's on Christmas afternoon, next year it switches.

So when I have them here in the morning, presents are the first thing, when I don't get them till the afternoon, then presents are done first thing when they arrive.

"other"....we eat breakfast as we open presents. All we have are oranges, sausage links, and pastry.

We do stockings before breakfast and presents after breakfast.

Other. :) We open Christmas eve.

When the kids were little, we opened Christmas eve and they opened Christmas morning. I can't even imagine having tried to tell them, "No, you have to eat breakfast first," lol. Just wouldn't have worked.

Plus, Santa didn't wrap in our house. So, the Santa gifts were just sitting there in all their glory waiting to be picked up. Couldn't very well have said, "No, don't go touch that. Come over here and have some Cocoa Puffs." No flippin way that would have flown.

And there was tons of candy in the stockings, anyway. They got filled up. :)

We don't even "do" breakfast on Christmas morning.....

We unwrap gifts, then have to be showered, dressed and out of the house by 9:00am to get to my Aunt's house for brunch an hour away..... (we go to Mass Christmas Eve)...

From my Aunt's house, we go to my IL's house for lunch and gift exchange....

Then to my parent's house for dinner/gift exchange.... (they all live in the next state over about 10 min. from each other but an hour from us)

We return home around 9:00pm Christmas night :rotfl: :santa:

We deal with the mess of wrapping paper in the living room the next morning :)

Breakfast on Christmas Day?! Yeah, right! :lmao:

EXACTLY! Breakfast on Christmas morning usually consists of whatever we happen to grab before during or after presents...a muffin, cookies, candy...it's a day that I let all reasoning(and healthy habits) go out the window.

Presents after breakfast. We don't have kids yet, and Christmas means more to me than gifts.

We open stockings and then we have "Christmas Cereal"
we let dd pick out the sugaryiest whatever she wants cereal she could dream of. And we do the same.

I knew I couldn't be the only one!:thumbsup2

Stockings, presents then breakfast. I'm usually up first so I do grab a cup of coffee for myself.

My brother was Type 1 diabetic so we always ate breakfast and then did presents. It is very easy for Diabetic children to forget to eat enough on holidays because of all the excitement (and risk running low blood sugars) so my mom was very strict on that.

Coincedentally my DH is also a Type 1 diabetic (since age 5) so he did the same growing up. So we eat breakfast first thing, but something easy like oatmeal or cereal. Presents next and stockings last. We always like to save the stockings as a little bonus for after all the big gifts are done.
