On Board Bargain

The following is a true story: had only ever browsed, never bought, at Treasure Ketch, but had seen a nice polo shirt with the DCL emblem on it. I just dont tend to buy $40 polo shirts, thats me personally. Browsing on our last cruise, that shirt again, a couple days later, was marked 50% off. I had to ask the store mgr CM, what's up, this real, no markdowns on DCL, and he said they were introducing more merchandise with the newer compass emblem, so yes, it was a true clearance markdown on board. Woo Hoo!!

And just added a DCL emblem T-shirt at the Disney Store at the Silver Sands Outlets at Destin, FL, two weeks back, $9.99 (and it was a tax holiday that day!).

That's my on-baord DCL merchandise bargain story--there are surely others...??Anyone, Anyone....Buehler?

I got DCL patches marked down to 99 cents on board the Magic. When I got home, ironed them onto some denium shirts for me, DH, and DD. Now everytime we sail, we wear our matching "custom" shirts and khaki shorts! Nice picture and I have never seen patches on any other cruise we have taken.

Mine is pretty similar to the OP, I found in Treasure Ketch a cute polo with the DCL symbol on it and it was 50% off. I was told they were bringing in the fall shirts cause they had long sleeves. I was so happy that I got a shirt on sale that I bought one of the long sleeve shirts as well. So keep a look out during mid to late Sept cruises.

When we were onboard in january, we got a great bargain! After leaving the Dreams show, we were going to head back to our stateroom. However, as we were walking by the stores, there were cm's bringing huge garbage bags full of teddy bears into the hall...they were the ones that have a mickey on feet (and i think they had a tag about the legend of this bear). We had seen them at wdw, but thought they were quite pricey. That nite onboard however they were selling them for $5.99 (maybe they were $6.99) I couldn't believe how cheap they were...perfect souvenier for us! People were snatching them up like crazy, and i managed to grab 3 for my kids, but i wish i would have gotten more. These didn't have the DCL logo on, but i thought they were a great deal anyways. I think there were a few other things in the store that were marked down, but they were things with 2004 logo on.

A tradition of ours is to always shop on the first night of the cruise, right after the 630 show, but before dinner at 830....that way, we will have a good chance at snagging some of the clearance merchandise before it sells out....

12/03 - i got two beach towels 50% off - one was a Vintage Mickey (my favorite!) which said "2003" on it and the other was ESPN zone which my DH loved.

I also bought '2002' DCL cruise pins I think for like $2 each that cruise solely to trade; don't flame me please I didn't flood the CMs with them

I picked up a pair of boys DCL swim trunks for my DS7 @ $9.99 - 50% off. They are navy blue and very nice. They were big when I bought them but fit him great this year.

I also bought myself a yellow short sleeve cotton polo shirt with a navy blue DCL logo which is very soft and comfortable. It was also on clearance and I almost didn't see it.

I usually spend a lot at Shutters but to me those pictures are a bargain - well done and fun.

So let me get this straight. Does DCL only have sales to clear out inventory?

The reason I ask is because other cruiselines will have merchandise full price for the first 5 days and then they go on "sale" the last two days.

I really want a few DCL towels. Can I wait until the end of the cruise or will they be full price the whole cruise?

OMG, there's a Disney Store Outlet at Silver Sands? I had heard they were putting one in there and kept looking for it, but I never saw it so I stopped looking. I was out there yesterday and didn't even look... just went in Big Dogs and a few others. Yikes, now I have to drive all the way back! Wonder if they still have DCL T shirts!

We sailed on the 10 day cruise last holiday season 12/18-28/2004. We were able to get the 2004 scrapbooks for 50% off. I would have bought it at full price so it was nice to see it on sale.

I have purchased scrapbook albums, ornaments and clothing items on clearance before - although I didn't see any clothing items the last 3 times I sailed, but maybe I didn't look hard enough (or they just weren't there).
