On average what is the cost of living where you live?

I just looked online and found this handy little cost of living wizard. It compares where you're living to other areas. http://swz.salary.com/CostOfLivingWizard/layouthtmls/coll_metrodetail_93.html

Anyway, in Lexington, the median household income is $46,296 (or was in 2007). The median cost of a detatched house was $227,928. Percentage of residents living in poverty: 16.1%.

Our income is much higher and our house cost us a lot less. We spend around $500 on groceries per month, give or take. Movie tickets are $8 - $9.

Estimated median household income in 2007: $68,968 (it was $54,556 in 2000)

Edmond: $68,968
Oklahoma: $41,567

Estimated median house or condo value in 2007: $188,900 (it was $118,000 in 2000)
Edmond: $188,900
Oklahoma: $103,000

Median gross rent in 2007: $790.

2008 cost of living index in Edmond: 84.0 (less than average, U.S. average is 100)

Persons living under poverty level is 9.5%.

Grocery costs aren't too bad - but my family eats out so often, that I don't really have a good handle on our grocery bill. Broccoli is $0.99 a head & I bought Black Angus filet mignon the other day for $5.77 a lb. - a bargain, but there are plenty of cattle ranches in the area. You want fresh seafood - you're going to pay a premium.

Movie tickets at the nearest mega-plex are $7, but the fancy, schmancy new theatre on the other side of town (which has an area where you can buy adult beverages) is $9.

Cheapest gas price per gallon near me right now is $2.29 (I checked, I have an App for that - lol).
