on average how often do you change Jobs?

I've never been one to job hop. 1st real job out of college I had for 10 years. Large company went out of business. Current job has been 12 years and unless something changes I'll stay here.

I'm in my 29th year post college. I never left the high school grocery store job as I worked it plus did some time at a local gas station in the outskirts. So technically I merely changed from my high school part time job to my adult job and that's the only time I've changed jobs.

My first job after college I stayed at for a year. Second one was about 5 years (it was at a Savings & Loan and I saw the writing on the wall and got out about 9 months before they closed.) Next job I stayed at for 10 years. Left that job 25 years ago to stay home with the kids. Still have that job.

ETA: My DH is still at his first job out of college....almost 30 years now. Pretty much unheard of these days.

Not one to job hop either. General Motors for 12 years and stayed home for 4 and now I work for a nonprofit since 2011.

1.5 years followed by 27 years followed by 1.5 years.

So an average of 10 years but that doesn’t really show real life.

Hopefully my current job will last 10-15 years when I am ready to retire.

My first adult job was for 3 years and the next for 5 years I would have stayed there but they closed our office. The next job was for two years but I was so miserable there I started looking for a new job. I’ve been at the same company now for 8.5 years. 7.5 years was spent in one department and then I was promoted to a management position in a different department a year ago. I love the company I work for and don’t ever plan on leaving but I don’t see myself in this position long term so we will see.

My career had a pretty normal (for the time) upwards trajectory with promotions or new jobs roughly every three or four years in the early days. Then I took 8 years off to manage my household and raise my DS during his early childhood. I went back to work 16 years ago and was promoted once to my current position, which I've had for over 10 years now. I've advanced as far as I'm likely to and at my age, my intention is to retire from here.

My first job out of college lasted 15 months and when I left that I worked at the next place for the next 32 years. Then due to an unexpected medical issue, I "early retired" on disability.

My first post-college employment lasted 21 years (to the day). In that time I took on more & more responsibilities. I was 20 hours per week when I started and was management when they closed. I am in my current employer for almost 5 years with very limited if any chance of upward movement.

First job 1 day (cleaning hotel rooms was not for me), 1st state job, 6 years then moved to another state agency for a promotion for 5 years. Moved to OK due to husband's job transfer, worked for AAFEES on base for 7 years, then back to a state agency for 12 years before retiring (received 2 upgrades at this job). I had a supervisor that told me that one in state employment should transfer jobs every 5 years to freshen up skills or promotions.

First job 12 years.
Second job 16 years.
Third job 16 years until I retired.

First job - 4 years. Then I became a SAHM until my boys were in school full time, then I went back to the first job I guess you could say 3/4 time since I was in during school hours and off over the summer. When the boys were much older I started back full time.

All with the same Company, but different jobs/positions over the years.

Worked for a rental car company for a year right out of High School. Then just shy of 10 years at a municipality job. Third job for electrical distributor for 10 years. Then on to my current job which will be 25 years in June.
