On a budget...Nikon or Canon

[It's A Happy Day]

I have been looking at a few digital cameras and not sure what will work out better. My 1st Digital Camera is a HP Photosmart 720 - it has been great as far as picture quality (I don't tend to blow up pictures bigger than regular pringts) and has served me well but I am looking for something new. My budget is really around $200 and I have been trying to find reviews on the canon powershot and nikon coolpix but there really aren't any informative reviews. Most of my pictures are of my kids. Looking for something that takes good pictures, fast reload time (a major issue with the one I have), and the possibility of blowing up the pictures to say 8x10 size.

Opinions please?

i'm a canon bigot so i would recommend something like the sd600 or the a540. i think both are right around $200.
