:cool1: I'm so excited. DH was just hired by WDIG ~ Walt Disney Internet Group (located in Seattle). He wasn't even looking for a job, but for kicks decided to post his resume on Monster just to see if anybody would be interested in him. Low and behold, Disney contacted him:banana:. We have been planing our vacation for the end of Aug (I'm going to surprise him with a "brick") for the past year. I was also complaining on how much it was going to cost. Now, I'm okay with the price. We all get in for free (Silver Pass), our hotel stay is 50% off (so, for a little more than most of the surrounding hotels) we can stay onsite. Our boys are going to love that (shhh, it's a surprise). Not to mention all the other benifits that go along with working for the company.

I'm a little upset though, his orientation is @ the Walt Disney Studio's in Burbank. Even though I am flying to CA with him, I won't be able to take a tour:mad: I want to take a tour of the studio's.

Wow that's awesome! (Do you know if they are looking for any newly graduated attorneys in the Seattle office ;)? Just kidding!) Seriously, one of my dreams is to be an attorney for Disney one day, but all the listings on the website for attorneys are of course for their offices in Southern California...and all my family, etc. is in Washington. :(

That is AWESOME! Congrats to your DH & family! Good timing huh?

I had no idea they had offices in Seattle...hmmm...are they still hiring? :rotfl: nah, right now, we're happy in Oregon!

Man, it sure is going to be tempting to visit a lot more often now! How fun!

How exciting! I'd love to work for Disney! My BIL and his family are moving to the Seattle area (he's a police officer ~ he'll be working in Bellevue) maybe we should follow them up there! Here in UT the only position they have is for Radio Disney.

I'm sure this will make your trip even more magical ~ have a great time, I hope your DH enjoys his new job. What will he be doing?

Congratulations to your dh and to your entire family! I bet you're just dreaming of all the Disney trips in your future (WDW, DCL, DLP. . . .) :cloud9:

How exciting! Congratulations to you and your husband! :goodvibes

congrats disney is a great company. my aunt retired from disney she worked in the los angeles area.

How exciting!! I keep telling DBF he needs to get a job working them in their environmental department. LOL I'm happy for you guys! congrats on the job!

Very cool!

I had just heard about this group from my university's alumni magazine; a friend I had in college mentioned in his bio update that he works there. So if your hubby meets someone who went to UPS in Tacoma, it might be the guy I knew! :goodvibes

He is a computer geek, and deals with the "hardware" side of computers. Builds them, fixes them, he has been in charge of security over them as well (make sure firewalls are up and they can't be hacked into and lots of other major security stuff), he also deals with storage (back up disks). I hope I explained all that right.

Disney Internet group deals with all of Disney's websites: Disney.com, abc.com, ESPN.com, familyfun.com. He will be in charge of all the storage info, data, stuff for all of these sites.

Congrats!! I know it gets exciting when you are willing to pay so much, then find out you can get it for cheaper. We have been planning on going in October, and while I am a Disney Store employee, the only discount I was counting on was my 3 free tickets (only managers get Silver passes). We then went back to the Wald Disney Co. after 3.5 years of ownership with the Chidlrens Place. I was so excited to find out I will get up to 50% of hotels, 4 free tickets a year, 35% of on merchandise, etc. Cant wait, only mu shopping list got longer!!:rotfl:

The silver pass is only good for US parks :(. When DH & I worked for Disney in 96, it was good at any Disney park. I would love to go over seas and visit the sister parks. One day (in the long distant future), I will be able to say, "I have visited all of the Disney theme parks". As for now I have only been to Disneyland. Hoping to go to WDW next year. Wonder if I can get a discount on a cruise, that would be so cool.

That's awesome!! I didn't know they had offices in Seattle, either. That is very tempting, but I'm sure they don't need customer service people up there. I'm too busy with the kiddos, anyway.

I used to work at the Disney Store, but they closed the one here. Now they are going back to Disney ownership, and I am so bummed I don't work there anymore!

Tell them to talk to me about how obnoxious their sites are. Ooh I have suggestions. A site that makes my under a year old Mac sound like an airplane taking off is NOT a good site!

But just think...if you were to put the money you would spend on tickets for your trips, towards trips outside of the US, then in a way his job discounts would have helped towards those trips!

I can't wait until I can get to DisneySea.....

Congratulations! I would love to work for Disney away from LA or FL. I keep wishing they'd get a call center or something here (where wages are low) and I'd jump in.

PS..isn't there a list somewhere of the Disney stores that are closing? I thought there was but couldn't find them.

The silver pass is good for all Florida parks, the 2 California parks, the France parks and Hong Kong.
