Apparently last night, while we were sleeping, our 24 ft above ground pool split at the seams!! One of the seams in the metal side gave way, and all the water went to my neighbors back yard!! Two sections of the privacy fence between us were completely knocked down and were at the other end of the neighbors yard. The two fence posts in those sections snapped in half at the ground!!! That must have been some force!!! The damage to the neighbors yard was minimal, and our damage is mostly the pool, and of course the fence. I am just so thankful that no one was in the pool when it happened!! That would have been really bad. Now I have to wait for the insurance office to open, so I can get them to come assess the damages before we can at least fix the fence to keep my dogs out of the neighbors yard!! Right now, the dogs are having a blast running between the two yards, and barking at the dogs that live on the other side of our neighbor!!LOL!!! We have been having alot of costly things happening right now, like DD's car just cost us $390.00 for repairs, and DS's cost us $650.00!!:scared1: I know we have a $1000.00 deductible on the homeowners insurance, but I think the costs will make it worth the effort to make a claim. And we have a trip to WDW planned for October, but that trip is being done on airline, rental car and hotel points, so the main cost will be the tickets to the parks.... not too bad!!! I just hope that we have seen the last of expensive, unexpected repairs for awhile!!! Thanks for letting me ramble on about our problems:headache: .. I know they could be worse, but I am getting a little frustrated!! It doesn't help that the backyard looks like a war zone!!!:scared:

Was the water wet?
No I'm totally kidding ;) Hehe.

But I've never heard of that happening before! I'm surprised it didn't make like a loud noise from the rushing water. We live in front of the town's water tower and it gets the occasional leak..but a pool full. WOAH! But I hope everything goes well when your backyard and your neighbor's get's fixed :)

yikes! How old was the pool? That is one my fears....my next door neighbor has an above ground pool, we get water in the basement from lots of rain and we live on the down side of a sloping street. If their pool ever bursts, we would have water up to the first floor!

This brings back fond memories. ;) When I was a kid, our 24 ft pool split down the side too. My dad figured it was because my older (show-offy) brother liked to hang onto the side and jump over to get in :sad2: so it weakened the side. I remember we had to go out to a big family event afterwards...I was so jealous, because all the neighborhood kids got to play in the flooded yard, and not me.

A couple of years later, when we had just put up the (new) pool (we used to take the pool down every year at the end of the summer, and we'd put it up again the following year!), and it only had a few inches of water in it, we had a terrible storm and it mangled and twisted the whole thing.

Ahh...the memories.

Good luck with yours! Sounds like the puppies are having loads of fun!

they are having alot of fun!!! The pool is about 4 years ols, and we are diligent about keeping the kids off the wall. It was just a freak thing, I guess! We were surprised that no one heard it either! I figure it must have been loud, especialy when the fence broke! And our bedroom is about 30 feet from where it happened, and the neighbors bedroom is even closer! They said that they didn't hear a thing!! I guess we are all heavy sleepers!!!
