and sent them out in an email!

Do you know anyone else like this?!?!?! She and I were friends back in high school and our early college years. Through the years we drifted apart because our lives went in different directions. I married earlier than she did, had kids earlier than she did, moved out of state, etc. We live in different states now, but we continue to send Christmas cards and things like that. Over the last year or so she has started sending me emails that she apparently sends out to a general list. (She apparently Bcc everyone because only her name shows up in the "To" line.) These emails tell me every detail of her life. I get pictures of her new bed linens, pictures of paint swatches asking which color she should choose......I got pictures of her DDs new hair bows for the new school year, pictures of her DD's monogrammed backpack, pictures of the new painting her DH got her for their anniversary, etc. I got pictures of her DDs new layered haircut (head shot), links to news articles of her DS's field trip that was included in the paper. I am not trying to sound ugly, but honestly, I do not care about all of these things. Yes, I like getting updates on her family every once in a while; she does that every year in their Christmas letter that they include in the annual Christmas card. However, I do not need a day by day update on their daily events. Is that wrong of me? Today I received 5 emails from her. I have copied and pasted the subject lines so that you can see what I am talking about:

(1) "Daughter's name" Oct. 16th Parent Conference Summary Sheet -- yes I got a scanned copy of the conference notes
(2) This was "Daughter's name" STAR test results that was taken Oct. 5th of her 3rd Grade Year -- I got a scanned copy of her test at the end of last school year so I could compare it with the tests from this year
(3)Today's AR Test , it was a 9 point book and she was thrilled - yes, I got a scanned copy of DD's AR test
(4) 2nd AR Test today....These Happy Golden Years by Laura Ingalls Wilder -another scanned copy of another AR test
(5)1st Nine Weeks Report Card in 3rd Grade - this was a scanned copy of her DDs first 9 weeks report card.

Does anyone else have someone that does this? I hate to be ugly, but this is crazy!

That seems a bit much. I wonder if maybe she thinks she only has select people on a list and Bcc's them, like her parents and IL's, but she is actually sending these out to everyone randomly in her address book.

I have wondered how her DD will feel about this when she gets a little older. She must be in 4th grade now.

No, that is not it. The emails that she sent had already been sent to the family members. She copied herself on the first family email and then forwarded that copy on to all of us in the general email. So, in other words, we received them after the family did.
:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

:scared1: Wow! Sounds like she needs a Facebook account. That is a great way to post all that is going on in everyday life and then anyone that WANTS to can hear about everything! Post your photos of the new wallpaper, the dress you just bought, the kids on the football field, etc...

I do have one friend that is ubercompetitive and always has to brag/prove that her kids are the best and I can see her copying all that stuff to send to people, but even she hasn't gone that far yet! At least not with her friends--she may send stuff like that for family.

Time to block her email address!

Scanning the records in to keep them as digital records sounds logical and something I would do. It means she can throw out the paper records and not have them cluttering up the world. Sending them in an email is something I would not do. I hope for her sake she meant to send them to her gmail account for archiving or something and sent them to everyone by accident.

If she meant to do it, and it sounds from OP like she did, it sounds like someone else who lives through their kids and takes the credit for their success instead of letting the kids take the credit. I work with people like this and it is annoying.

I have this terrible urge to scan my son's detention slips, and send them out. pirate:

Forget "that's too much".

I feel it is highly inappropriate. Breach of her daughter's privacy not to mention BRAGGING which is just rude.

An e-mail saying Shameless Mom Brag, Janie did awesome again this quarter would suffice. But to send the actual records? :sad2::sad2::sad2:

Wow! That poor kid. I know I wouldn't want everyone to know about my everyday doings. Even family. Could you just change your email addy?

Sounds like she needs someone to talk too. Maybe she's trying reach out for something.

She isn't just bragging about her kid, she is talking about everyday home stuff too. I agree though, too much personal stuff about your kid in an email to so many people is just not right. Boy, wait till she hits puberty.

I still think she is reaching out for someone to talk to.:confused3

Eh - we scan stuff and send it to the grandparents but certainly NOT random HS friends.

Not conference notes but good report cards ... sure. AR tests? I don't even think I've seen the results of those.

I have a family website I put similar stuff onto. Photos of outings, stuff like that. Since we don't live near any family, I like to share our lives with them. I think my mom and one of DH's aunts are the only people that look at it.

But yeah, there are no old random highschool friends on the occasional email I send out to tell people I put more stuff on the website.

5 a day is crazy. Who has time for that? I update our site maybe 2x a month, if I'm doing good with it and maybe send out 1 email a month linking to the site (it has a password, which it why I send the email.)

(bolded by me) :thumbsup2 I think you hit the nail on the head!

Seriously, I can't stop laughing at this. No detentions here but it's been a rough time with DS lately. Thanks for the laugh.

To the OP your friend needs to start a blog. I can't believe the personal info some people put on public blogs.
