OMG!! Remember the rude woman at my daughter's softball game?

My husband is my DS9's baseball coach so I feel your pain!

Please keep talking to this Psycho. I can't wait to hear her opinions on the fund raiser! Keep us posted on any further conversations.

pirateofthecarolinas--we already had the fundraiser. Each family was given a cardboard box of 60 candybars to sell for $1.00 each. Whatever candy we didn't sell, we were responsible for paying for. The other coach's wife was the one that passed them out, so I didn't personally see this, but she said that Tiffany threw the box in the garbage and wrote a check for $60 to the league. The funniest part is that she said one of the other dads got the box out of the garbage and started eating them! :hyper:

Wow, that poor kid is going to have a lot to overcome!

I had the lovely honor last week of informing a dad from our team that his wife had signed their name on the stand sign-up sheet and he was supposed to be in there instead of sitting in the bleachers. After a lot of "I know nothing about this! Are you sure it's my name? How long am I supposed to stay in there?" he finally went over and worked half a shift.

Our league handles the lack of volunteers by collecting stand and field work "bonds," postdated checks that get cashed if you don't serve your time. It was $50 each, but recently they upped the fieldwork bond to $100 because people were figuring it was worth the $50 to not have to help get the fields ready in the spring, and not enough parents were showing up.

In all fairness the way you worded it made it sound like you don't have to work the cocession stand and sence she sounds like a snob most would not work it. On my brothers team each parent must work one day of the year. He plays for Cicero. Where are you guys at?

She must have ALOT of money! The gal up the street cleans house for a rich lady and she does stuff like that.
She buys CD's, DVD's, clothes, whatever and then throws them away after she she uses them.

I just think about her poor daughter...I hope she hasn't inherited her unsocial gene!!!

At least "Tiffany" is good for supplying Disers with entertainment. She doesn't work retail, she is in the "entertainment" industry.;)

LOL! This is turning into the funniest thread I have read in a long time!

I agree that poor kid has a lot to overcome. Is she liked by othe other kids? If so, there might be hope for her at least. No hope at all for the mom!

:rotfl: i was a coach and a concession stand mom and this thread just makes me smile...I'm glad I'm retired from that crap...(my kids dont play anymore) but that woman needs a good fast ball to the head..........oops.

Here's a solution for you.......

When I was the team mom, if a parent didn't want to do their shift, they had to hire someone else who was willing to fill in. It was usually a teenager willing to do it for low pay. Several parents paid their older kids or another teen to do it. So, go up to her and say, "Tiffany, since you have a problem with working retail, please pay $$$ to (whomever) to fill in for you. If you can't pay someone to fill in for you, then we will have to close the concession stand during your shift and you will have to reimburse the league for the money that is lost during that time."

Well, I have another story for you.

My husband and another dad are co-coaching this team. By default, they are also responsible for all of the busy work involved in running the team. Each team in the league has three 3-hour shifts they are assigned to have to work the concession stand. These shifts take place during the game your daughter is playing. Nobody wants to miss their daughter's entire game, so in order to keep it fair, the coaches decided to see if the parents could all sign up for a 1/2 hour shift on one of those days. The other coach's wife and I went around to all the parents and asked them to sign up for the half-hour shift that was convenient for them.

Well, here is how the conversation went with the psycho woman:

Me: "Hello Tiffany"

Her: "YES?????" (in a rude voice--not even a hello back!)

Me: "These are the days our team is responsible for working concessions. Could you please sign up for a half-hour shift that would be convenient for you?"

Her: "You want ME to work the concession stand???"

Me: "Yes, all the parents are taking turns".

Her: "I've never worked RETAIL in my life, and I don't intend to start now".

Me" "OOOOOOOOKay then."

At this point the other woman and I just turned around and left. We barely made it out of sight before we burst into laughter. RETAIL??? Does she really believe a little concession trailer that sells mostly candy, bubble gum and soft drinks is retail? My husband was kind of mad that we let her get away with it, but we were truly speechless. What could we have said at that point? Besides we were dangerously close to laughing in her face, and that would have been really rude on our part.

Also, we in the Chicago area have had so much rain lately that the softball fields never quite dry out completely. Well, her daughter Miranda Ashley (and DON'T just call her Miranda--I made THAT mistake once) is not allowed to get dirty. All the other parents were taking it in stride when the girls were getting splashed and muddy, but Tiffany was having a fit.

DH was telling me that when the league voted this year to put first names on the back of the jerseys instead of last names, Tiffany told him she wanted Miranda Ashley across the back of her daughter's shirt. Well, these girls are little and so are their jerseys. The name didn't fit, so he said he would have to put hers smaller and on 2 lines. Tiffany told DH that was not acceptable and that he needed to find some way to make it work.

Good old DH made it work by putting Miranda in big letters and Ashley really small underneath. She wasn't happy with that either. but DH didn't care.

Is this lady just socially ignorant or is she one of those people who thinks she is better than the rest of us? Is her daughter like her or is she embarrassed?

Well, she sounds like a real beaut.

But in reality, do you really want her serving food to you?

That's not to say I don't think she SHOULD, just that I don't think I'd want to buy anything from someone who really doesn't want to be there - the same reason I NEVER return food through the drive-thru. I'm afraid of what I'd get!!! LOL

When she said she doesn't work retail -- I would have smiled and said "You do if you want your daughter to continue playing softball. Oh, and feel free to wear sunglasses if you're afraid you might be recognized doing a good deed".

And hey, if that didn't work...I'd pee on her leg. :teeth:

I wish you would have stuck around for a few more seconds to show her what an idiot she is. ,,,and then you could have peed on her leg...

I feel sorry for the daughter, chances are she will grow to be just like her...:(
