you'd think I asked him to cut off his right arm! WHEN will he turn the corner and shower twice a day??? I'm looking forward to it!

Twice a day? No one here showers twice a day, so not the norm here. We are happy with once a day.

Anyway, no way do I have my slow kid shower in the morning. There is just no way. I have tried it and it is not doable. Then again she is a girl and takes way too long.;)

Better check to make sure the soap is not still dry............:lmao: The problem with body wash is you never know if they used it or not.:rotfl:

I am wondering when DD's hygene instincts will kick in, too- she is 12, and I have to practically lock her in the bathroom 3 times a week to shower. This past weekend, she competed in a soccer tournament- 2 games per day for 2 days- and told me she shouldn't have to shower BOTH days. Uh, yes you do- YOU STINK!!

When one of my boys was in that stage he went thru a period where he'd go shower but not wash his hair. I'd literally have to threaten to go in there and WATCH to make sure it would get done.

Then I had to remove the bottle of Conditioner from the bathroom he used because he was too lazy to read and distinguish Shampoo and Conditioner.

Eventually I just started buying him his own special bottles of Industrial Strength Body Wash and he'd just use it for top to bottom.

I've never heard of showering twice a day....unless the 2nd time is after exercise or some other reason.

That's what worked for us. DS24 didn't know the difference between shampoo and conditioner for a long time. I bought him some Axe body wash and he was in hog heaven. 'Course, the rest of us paid the price--you could smell him from around the block!~ But at least it wasn't goat-boy funk.

I think the OP is meaning that some boys go thorugh a stage where they want to shower 2 times a day! OP wants to know when that is going to happen! :rotfl:

Incidentally, that would make a fantastic band name.

Now I know why my mom was so thrilled that my brother and I were swimmers...we had built-in "baths" at least once a day.

My ds14 showers twice a day. He has been showering twice a day for about 2yrs now. My dh and I shower twice a day too so maybe we are just weird. I have a rule that everyone showers before bedtime, but the morning shower is up to the individual. We all tend to feel like the living dead if we do not shower in the morning. Night shower is to get clean, and the morning shower is just to get us moving.

Exactly! Folks keep saying to me, "Just wait...." Heck, I'd be happy with every other day!

LOL.

My 13 year old showers in the morning.

He went into the guest room last night to play the N64, and whew!!! Stinky. We call it "Nerd Sweat" because he plays video games (mostly drums on Rock Band).

I actually tossed him his deodorant at 8:30pm last night!

He has very curly hair. Where he gets it, I don't know. DH and I both have stick straight hair.

He loves his curly hair. His goal is to grow it long like Slash (Guns N Roses). But I have told him that he will get it cut if he does not take care of it. Luckily, he does wash his hair, and body. I can smell the Suave for Men Hair & Body Wash we get him, plus he loves the Herbal Essences shampoo we got him (I think he uses that as a body wash too - whatever works!).

He showers daily, in the morning. Or on weekends he showers in the afternoon or mid-morning. He knows a shower is necessary.

Minkydog is always good for a giggle. Baaa Baaa!!!!!

I'm so glad others have gone through this. We've gone through the not washing the hair stage, the protesting the shower phase, the I don't need a shower phase, use conditioner in lieu of shampoo phase, the soap is still dry phase, and not using a washcloth phase.

He's 15 and a whole lot better about taking showers, but it still isn't quite right. He still needs to be told a lot of times.

Sigh.

My oldest ds was exactly like this! He will be 15 next week and that phase has thankfully passed..he now refuses to go anywhere without his shower and cologne.:cool1:

I don't ever remember having to do that with our DS, but our DGS on the other hand? Oh my goodness. He stayed with us (along with his older sister and younger brother) a few weekends this summer and many times when he got here he desperately needed a shower so I had to tell him (almost thought I should tell him to use soap and shampoo too, and not just stand under the water for two seconds ).

What is it with young teen boys not wanting to shower?

And he would never use deoderant either, until I put some in his stocking last Christmas!

My DS14 has gotten over protesting taking a shower - but will not take one unless he is told to :headache:

He totally has the "goat-boy" funk going on and I have refused to take him places in the car until he showers first. I'm hoping he will get to the point where I don't have to remind him...
