Okay, we have been planning to go to WDW for a few months now- but didn't know where to stay. I am the disney freak out of all of us.

Tonight, hubby said we can stay wherever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, we need a place for 6 of us. Not sure if we will have a car there or not. Have never been to the world other than when I was in the 4th grade.

Any tips on how to rent points- if I can even find any available!!

I can't wait till DEC!!!!!!!!!

Jenn

We need more details - are you DVC owners so we are only talking about the 6 DVC resorts or will you just be staying inside the park at a deluxe resort. Disney has several levels of resorts too, from value to deluxe villas to campgrounds. Do you like a beach club feel, the ability to see giraffe while sipping coffee, the elegance of the resorts found in the Pacific Northwest, a Polynesian retreat, or the opulance of the Grand Floridian. Please give us a little more to go on and we can be of great assistance. Believe me - you've come to the right place.

If you are looking to rent a reservation from a member for December, you need to hop over to the Rent/Trade Board now and read all the stickies at the top of the page. December reservations are going fast now and it won't be too much longer before a member can book at a non-home resort for December.

You'll need a two bedroom villa at least and you may have to give the member at least half of the cost to make the reservation and the rest at least 60 days out.

When you rent a reservation from a member, you need to be ready to give up all control over the reservation. The member controls it until the moment you check in. You won't be able to confirm the reservation with Member Services. The member will need to add the dining plan or Magical Express for you. And you may not be able to change or cancel the reservation without losing your deposit.

You can stay in any two rooms at any resort or you could stay at the All Stars Family Suites or Fort Wilderness Cabins.

We are NOT DVC owners. This is our first trip to WDW.

I went through and looked at all the resorts... I am not much of an animal person. Hubby would like the wilderness thing. I like Boardwalk and SSR. I am more modern and contemporary and he is 'old style' lol

I like the idea of a maid service or at least someone to come in and tidy up a bit.

I wanted to go to Disney in Dec because I love all the Christmas stuff- so one that is well decorated would be nice. We don't have to stay in a DVC resort, but I thought it might give us the best room. I guess we could stay in a moderate, but get 2 rooms.

We just always go the cheap route on our travels and I would really like to live it up for once. plus, hubby said I can!! :cool1:

does that help you, help me at all? There is so much to read and not much time to read it all!

plus, you all are the experts!

Suggest you try VWL. It's got a magnificent but rustic lobby for your husband and it's deluxe for you. Keep in mind that villas will only have trash & towel service on the fourth day and a full cleaning once a week, though you can pay for daily maid service.

It's extremely popular for December. You might not be able to find points to rent but check to see if you can get a villa for cash. The decorations are really gorgeous, there's a big fireplace and a stream in the lobby, and you're just a boat ride away from the MK.

I'd start looking into how many points you will need for a 2 bedroom at the time you want to go and compare it to the cost of 2 rooms at a Moderate for the same time period. That will give you a good starting point on trying to compare costs. If your stay includes a weekend that point cost for a 2 bedroom could get really high.

I will go check the cost vs point ratio. We will be staying 10 nights. I didn't even know that you could select these places as an option and pay cash for them. I thought they were DVC resorts only.- until a few minutes ago!

See, I know nothing!

Thanks for your help!

I highly recommend VWL - 2 bedroom unit if you can swing it. It is my favorite resort, especially at Christmastime:santa:. Yes, you can rent for cash or try the DVC rent trade board here on this site but keep in mind that December ressie for VWL on points are very hard to book if not done close to the 11 month booking window. So you may need to make a cash ressie anyway. If the two bedroom is out - seriously consider a cabin at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds as these would have the room you need and I would prefer a cabin over two rooms at a moderate. The All - Star resorts do have family suites and these may be an option for you as well. Good Luck.

This will seem bizarre but also look into the cost of renting a cabin at Fort Wilderness or a Family Suite at All Star Music resort. The cabin only has a full size bed, but the family suite has a Queen.
