We're are going in Oct of this year. 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids--one kid is under 3 if that even matters). Overwhelmed by the choices and things to consider. Flying from Nashville. I'll start reading the newbie threads. Feel free to offer suggestions. Priced out flights this AM with SWA. There goes a quick $1250 for 4! LOL.

thanks,
grey

Is Air Tran an option for you? That is usually much cheaper than SW from where I live.

SWA just released their dates for the end of October today and they are high. I am going to wait. As the PP stated, check out AirTran. I would get tickets to the MNSSHP. It was so much fun! Let us know if you have any questions.

Here are my suggestions:

-take advantage of fast pass as much as you can
-consider getting to the parks at rope drop
-make ADRs (dining reservations) at your 180 day mark
-in addition to the DIS, I also really like the Unofficial Guide guidebook for info
-if the 3 year old is still wearing diapers, the baby care centers are much nicer than the bathrooms for diaper changing

have a great trip!

No AIrtran for Nashville to ORL.
SWA may come down ya think?

Making progress on lodging. Look to ke in the "moderate" category (Port Orleans) Thoughts on that? Really wish we could upgrade to Animal Kingdom lodge, just seems out of reach.

Dining--Magic Your Way Plus Dining looks to be best for us.

Can't decide if Park Hopper is a MUST. It seems to be though?

Hi ho, hi ho, off to do more reading I go!!!!

:) We will be there Oct 28-Nov 4. You will have a great time

WELCOME TO THE DIS !!!

First..welcome. You will have a great time. As for a park hopper, you will get various answers on if it's necessary.....my answer is not always. Now, for us, it depends on how long we are staying...if it's a long trip, we do get the hoppers..because we use it and it's cost effective for us. If you are undecided, then wait until you get there and if you find it could be useful...then just add it on while you are there. It costs the same if you buy it now, or later.

The magic your way plus dining is a great option....just find the dining menus here on the DIS and then make your decisions that way, based on what you want to eat.

Have fun !!!

thanks for the insight so far everyone.
I like the "wait" optionon park hopper idea. Good to know it costs the same now or later.

I see they have discounts that end Oct. 1st. If I book now for Oct 8th and they later have a promotion will I qualify for the new rate or am I stuck with the price I pay now for booking so far in advance?

I've been reading about the "180 day mark" to make reservations for character dining. I assume this is a big deal to do ahead of time to ensure you get to dine at the places you want?
okay thanks!
