OMG!! I got the best deal at Alamo for DEC

The Base is still at $116. My total for 10 days is $212. It would be great if it went down even more.

I just rebooked again for Dec. 7th through the 14th for the mid-size SUV (Equinox) and the price is down AGAIN, from $107.50 (all inclusive) to $103.76 (all inclusive). If this keeps up, by December, they'll be paying me to take the car... :dancer:

Uggh. Every time someone posts that their rate went down I check mine. Hasn't budged!!

Yeah let's see $4 a day X 60 days ...

Yup they'll owe us like $120... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Don't know if anyone have mentioned this before but if anyone is renting a SUV and planning to decline the insurance and use their credit card's rental car insurance coverage, MAKE SURE and call their card's customer service before hand to make sure that SUVs will be covered under the card's policy.

Each card has different policies. Many do not cover SUVs at all. They only cover up to a certain value of the vehicle ($30k/40k/50k).

My MasterCard will only cover 14 or 15 consecutive days of rental but my Gold AMEX will cover up to 30 consecutive days. However, my MC will cover Loss of Use while the AMEX do not at all.

I don't think any credit cards cover liability insurance. You would be covered under your regular auto insurance for that.

Just something to think about!

Good luck in the good rates game!

I just checked the rates again. My 9 day Chevy Trailblazer (standard SUV) is now at 185.91 including all taxes and fees. This morning I rebooked for 166.56.

$185.91 is still a great rate ($15 cheaper than when I started this thread) but its going up. Book now while you can. I still have extra entertainment coupons for those going before 12/31/05.

I just spoke to alamo and they said you can't prepay for an existing reservation. If you prepay you can save 10-15%.

Yes, it looks as though the prices are going back up. I got a rate of $104.00 and today my dates are up to $112.00.
As stated still a good deal but I'm glad I booked when I did.

Can I make a reservation at this rate and then cancel, or modify my reservation without any charges? We will be going to Orlando in December, but not certain of the exact dates yet as we will be using Last Call through RCI.

Thanks for any help!

Ok, I've been trying to get this lower, got the Equinox down to a base rate of $140.02/187.50-with fees/taxes.

Contemplating making the reservation with Alamo too and just seeing if the price goes down at some point.

I think mine is coming up higher than yours, agotta, because we're booking from 10:30 am on the 5th thru 2:30 pm on the 13th, so we're paying for some xtra time.

Yea maybe. We are picking up at noon on the 5th and dropping off at 4 on the 11th. I checked mine this morning and it was up to $142 before taxes again.

Has anyone seen any good deals for 10/22 - 10/29. I've been checking constantly for the past 2 months and nothing has been good. I've used the codes and coupons everyone has mentioned and nothing really has been that good.

Anyone? Anyone?

Alamo has a midsize for $172.66 including taxes for your dates. That includes a 20% of code from moussavers and $15 off advertised on Alamo.com.

I'm also getting good rates here but I have concerns about Alamo based on our two of our three previous experiences with them (both being from their onsite location). The last two times (Aug 04 and Jan 05) we waited in line for over an hour at the Alamo counter while all the other counters were empty. Not sure this is worth the price, everyone in line was VERY frustrated.

We used Alamo for the first time last May. We usually used Budget (never a wait).....but we couldn't pass on the deals at Alamo.

Yes, our wait was incredibly long too!! But, if you notice online....you can do an online check-in and bypass the counters as long as you meet the criteria.

I appreciate this post too by the way......we had a full size for 12 days at 278.60 w/an AP discount. But with the walmart code I can upgrade to a Chevy blazer for 310.94. My parents are joining us for the second half of the trip and I was a bit worried thinking about squeezing all our luggage/stroller into the Full size we rented. But no worries now! We had the SUV in May and it was awesome....I'm so glad we could get it again!

I did try to use the $15 alamo code....but then I'd have to go to the counter. I'd rather pay the $15 and bypass a possible hour wait again!!

Good luck to everyone on getting the rates you want

We just got back and had a 7 day deal w/Alamo for a minivan at $138. We too had a long line...at least 45 minutes, and then the counter agent tried to hard sell us a bigger minivan claiming our luggage would not fit in the standard one. He wanted to charge us an add'l $14/day for a bigger minivan. WE said no. We were right. We all fit just fine! Was it worth it? I don't know. I guess the price was good, but we had a 3 and 5 year old who didn't enjoy the wait!

Are/were you allowed to use on-line checkin for Fullsize SUV? The criteria says no on-line check-in for mid-size SUV. :guilty:

If you check in on-line, do you just skip the counter and go straight to where the cars are? How early can you check in on-line?

Thanks for any answers!

Goofyforlife...........our rental is a standard SUV Chevy Trailblaizer. I'm sorry they're not letting you do the online check-in for the smaller SUV...that seems odd.

If you check in on-line, do you just skip the counter and go straight to where the cars are? How early can you check in on-line?

Yes, you skip the counter....go to Alamo's car area and find the car you've reserved (they're labled by row and you can pick whichever car you want....we had a choice of different colors). Then you drive (yes the keys are in the car) to the exit booth with your printed receipt from the online check-in you did at home.

I was able to do the online check-in as soon as I reserved the car. I got a page to print saying.....Your online check-in with Alamo has been confirmed . I just print that out and give that to the person at the booth along with the credit card I gave online to reserve it.

I'm hoping it's as easy as it sounds! I'm just thrilled to not have to deal with the counter after getting our luggage! :Pinkbounc We're heading straight to the cars and hoping for an easy transaction at the booth.
