omg... gag me with a spoon

Eww, I could have happily lived a lifetime without knowing that :sick:. I am relieved we switched to ground chicken breast burgers, turkey meatballs and ground chicken breast for tacos ect. about 2 years ago instead of beef in an attempt to keep calories, fat & cholesterol down. Did I mention ewww at the story? BTW, I kind of want to look up what effluvia is but am thinking it might make me sick.

::yes::

I always wondered what was in the ground beef tube sold at WalMart.;) I would imagine that chain restaurants are the same as well as the school cafeterias (having worked at one before).

As a side note....I taped "Soylent Green" yesterday.

It is people, I tell you...:rotfl:

That is horrific. I've been seriously considering becoming a vegetarian again (I was formerly one for 5 years prior to meeting DH.) This article has pretty much put me over the edge... I hope I can control my cravings and hold out. I will feel incredibly guilty if I don't eat the food we have in our house now, so it looks like I can create a realistic start date of October 1st... and thank God there's no ground beef in my freezer! :scared1:

Oh Pea and Me, I couldn't have been more right about my impulse NOT to look. To borrow from my my Brooklyn friends Oy vey! I knew the word was disgusting enough to demand an equally disgusting definition and I was not wrong :upsidedow

So now I am stuck on whatever "Soylent Green" might mean... what does it mean if my skin is crawling and my curiosity is peeked at the same time? The words themselves are mesmerizing mostly because I have no idea what Soyent means I'm thinking the green goo from Slimetime Live... in food? Yuck, no, I won't look, do - not - want - to look. If i look I may never be able to enjoy a Red Robin burger again:scared1:

i had to look it up....don't eat a soylent green wafer... its not high-energy plankton.

Soylent Green is PEOPLE!! We've got to stop them--SOMEHOW!!!"

Just another reason to buy fresh ground beef from your local butcher.

Last year my daughter told me about what is in ground beef and I haven't had any since. Just thinking about it makes me gag.
