OKay a rew months ago I posted in response to someone's thread about their friend not being as excited about DL, etc... Well my dh has been to Dl before when he was a kid, and since then has not been with ds and I (we normally go with my family) I don't know why but it has always been that way... ds and I were talking about DL one night and dh asked me to stop talking about it for one moment, which left me thinking this trip was going to be miserable :sad2:

Anyway yesterday I was in the kitchen cooking breakfast and guess what, he comes out of the bedroom and says in MY singsongy voice "only 6 more days until Disneyland!!" :lovestruc Who is this guy!?!?! he is so excited about going!!!! I fell in love with him all over again! :cloud9:

FINALLY the magic has been sprinkled on him! :wizard:

I felt bad when I had to correct him though... hmm 7 days! :lmao:

thats awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: thats so great u guys are gonna have an awsome trip!!!!!! i'm sure ur son is going to be so happy to have his daddy there!!!

I'm worried that i make such a big deal about how great DL is (:lovestruc )that once DH goes (hes never been) it will be a let down for him.... i hope not cause once he can go i hope we go atleast 1-2 times a year....

I know exactly where your coming from NicksMommy. :thumbsup2

Ive been planning for about 5 months now and dh has hardly said a word or showed any sort of excitement. Even asking me if I can refrain from discussing it so much as his ears are burning and he can't take it anymore...lol

Today while he was watching football he made dd promise not to say anything....and he told her he was really excited to go....but dont tell mom. ;)

They eventually come around, and yes it does make you fall in love with them all over again. :goodvibes

That is GREAT that he is finally excited! My sister is the same way, has been ever since we were little! She only gets excited right before we go! My sisters fiance has never been *shock* and he leaves the room when all of us disney lovers get to chatting about it. I hope he gets excited when it gets close!

Enjoy your trip!! :goodvibes

I was Disney obsessed for about a year before hubby and I went for our anniversary which is why I think we went. I think he just wanted to shut me up. :lmao: We also wanted to be familiar with it so when we took the kids in December for the first time we would know what we were doing. :thumbsup2 Good excuse huh? Anyhow I REALLY worried that hubby was not going to like it and then wouldn't want to go in December. He very rarely acts excited over anything which is quite frustrating.

I think it was either the best or second best anniversary we ever had. He loved it and was really able to relax. He laughed so much on rides is was awsome.

YEA!!! :cool1: it's so much better when the one you love, gets excited about the same things!!! I can't wait until we are actually there and to see his face!

When I was growing up, i went to disneyland about 8 times, my dh never went...when i was planning our first family disneyworld trip(04), my dh was such a downer...he complained about all the time i spent on the computer planning, said it was going to be an awful trip, said it probably wouldnt be any fun...blah blah blah...he really started to make me mad..fast forward, first day in disneyworld, me and the kids ar exhausted and want to leave...dh says no way, we gotta do more rides...:lmao: ...we have been to disneyland in 06 and 07 and he is the biggest kid in the park....we are heading back to disneyland in may 09, and said maybe we should get only 3 or 4 day passes and do a bunch of other stuff in our 11 days there..his comment "gotta get 5 day ones for sure"...got another addict...oh yah, after the first trip he thanked me for all the planning, he understood....

NicksMommy, that's so great! It makes it so much better to have someone to share the excitement with! :cheer2: I hope your family has a wonderful time!

We have another family traveling with us the first week we are going this year. My DH told them how excited we were since our trip is getting so close. Then he proceeded to ask them if they were getting excited too. "Yeah" was all he could get out of them! He even brought it up a few more times but a couple sentences was about the biggest response he could get from all 3 people. The oldest girl went with us before, and I overheard her tell someone that our trip to Disneyland was the best trip she ever took, so I know they all will have fun when they actually get there but I just can't understand :scratchin the lack of any enthusiasm. For my family, a big part of the excitement is the build up and anticipation of finally getting there!

On the flip side, while I did restrain myself from babbling about DL too much so they don't think I am a total nut, I have to admit I was proud of DH for showing his Disney excitement!

That is so awesome that he is excited about the trip. We usually go to WDW every year and DH loves that. This year we decided on DL and we leave in 20-something days. My DH hasn't even showed the little bit of excitement which is starting to make me sad.

Oh well...I'll have a good time :)

Hope you guys have a great trip! Take lots of pictures and post when you get back....PLEASE!!!!:goodvibes

Wow. So glad for you.
These are all my stories, too. My DH and I grew up in Orange County. My sister and mom live in Anaheim and I visit once or twice a year, as much to visit the park as them. But the only time DH goes is when we take the kids and grandkids. This is our first visit to the park alone together and it's our 38th anniversary. He only tolerates me talking about it if I keep it to a minimum. Honestly there were times I thought we'd divorce over my obsession and his lack of it.
But I know he wants to go and he wants to have fun but HE WILL NOT ADMIT IT. It's not like I want him to have my level of love for all things Disney. That would not be good. I just hope I get to see that little spark light him up.

My DH has said I am limited to two mentions of Disney a week  I also can't talk to my DS about it as it is a surprise Christmas Present ARRRGHHH. Thank goodness for this board.

Ah that's wonderful! My Dh was excited about our last trip too, but it didn't happen till it practically was here. He always gets in to it once we are there though.

But I will usually hear the typical "Isn't there anywhere else you'd like to go?" during the planning stages. To where I say "Of course not? Where else would I go?" LOL

Enjoy him being excited!

:rotfl: Thats so cute. Just wait until he gets there and sees how different it is, but how much more awesome it has gotten over the years. The dear man will be begging to go back in no time :thumbsup2

That's great!!! I love it when our sweeties love DL as much as we do. :) A few days ago my sweetie said "I miss having our AP's, I want to go to DL this weekend!" LOL

When our house starts planning a trip...(DL/WDW/DCL) the excitement level jumps a bit then goes back down. We usually plan a least 6 months out. That gives us too much time to think, so we try not too. Myself I put the date on a shelf in my mind and TRY not to countdown :rolleyes1.

Come 7 days out I lose my mind :cool1:, look at all our pics from previous trips :surfweb: and make a genral pain of myself :yay:. Thank goodness that my FDW and FDSD are REAL patient with me....

I'm so happy for you! When I think about how far my husband has come since our early days, I know exactly how you feel. I owned DVC before we got together, so his initial hesitation about going to WDW was a bit scary for me. We were day-visiting DL all the time when we were dating, but WDW vacations were the big test.

It took about 2 WDW vacations (and the DVC 1 BR units) to really get him sold on what a no-brainer trip it was and the cool things you could do. We got married at the GCH because of that, too. What really sealed the deal, though, was having our girls! He gets such a big kick out of seeing it through their eyes, that it doesn't grow old.

I even caught him doing some dining research on the DIS!

Have a great time this weekend! You deserve it!

I'm so happy for you!!!

Can you sprinkle some of that on my DH? He's still being a grouch.:headache:

I also think that my DH enjoys the frequent trips to Anaheim more now that DS is a little older (13 whole months).

While he says that he enjoys seeing how happy I am when we are on Disney property, I secretly know that he is more excited watching DS on the Carrousel (current favorite ride), interacting with the characters, etc. No matter which one it is, I'll take it as long as it means I get to keep making 5-7 trips to the "Land" each year!

I'm so happy for you!!!

Can you sprinkle some of that on my DH? He's still being a grouch.:headache:

I wish it was that easy!! But trust me they do come around closer to the trip!! :goodvibes I think just the fact of having a vacation should get them happy!! :)
