I have been off of work for 3 days with my sick child. Three times today and one time each of the other days, I have received a call from Chase Bank "welcoming me" and thanking me for "establishing a new credit card" with them. I realize that this is really a veiled sales pitch to get me to accept a credit card. I have told them each time: "I do not have a credit card with you, do not want a credit card with you, and please STOP CALLING ME." This is insane.

I also know know that they are the ones that have been calling me for the past two weeks. Every day that I get home I have a "hang up" call from a 1-800 phone number. Now I know it's them.

Are they really allowed to do this?

If you're on the "Do Not Call" list and you do not currently have any business with Chase, then no, they can't. Do you have a mortgage or something through Chase that they can get around this?

Also, you can ask them to cease in writing, and I'm pretty sure they must comply, even if you are in some sort of business relationship with them.

I have absolutely zero affiliation with Chase, at least that I know of. Once upon a time (years and years ago), I believe I had a mortgage with them for a short time (not my choice, they just bought up a mortgage company).

I'm pretty sure I'm on the Do Not Call list but I cannot remember anymore.

are you sure someone else hasn't opened up a Chase credit card in your name?

You can check your credit report to find out if an account has been opened with them.

I thought maybe you were getting the "we have a new program for you to participate in" After the 20th call all being no, I finally said that it was harassment and will be getting a new card. They said it takes up to 90 days to be off their call list. WHY?? If I say no, I am not going to magically change my mind to yes!

Sorry to take over your vent, but it makes me nuts. I miss the old days of Bank One.

Sorry they are harassing you too.

One last check, have you had a credit card or account with Bank One in the past year. Even if you cancelled it. Chase bought and merged with Bank One. I think that companies you have done business with have up to one year (maybe less) to still call and solicite you without violating the do not call list rules.
