How's the coffee onboard? Is it that same horrible Nescafe they serve at the parks? Also, DH is European and can't function without espresso in the am.Is there a way to get him some in the early am?

We just came off the Magic and they had a lovely spot called the Cove Cafe. The coffee was made fresh with the espresso machine. I'm pretty sure they were open by 7am each morning. You do have to pay extra, but it was right in line with pricing you'd get from Starbucks.

The coffee at the beverage station is indeed NesCafe, and it is not all that good, as you already know! But like Tammi said, the Cove is a very nice place to get your espresso, latte...whatever you choose, at a price plus 15% gratuity of course. But it is worth it!

That is so weird....guess it's perception....
I am NOT a coffee drinker. I like my lattes, heavy on the milk and flavoring, but coffee? UGH!! GASP.

Except on the cruise. I LOVE the cruise coffee! In the morning, after dinner with dessert. Doesn't matter when, I become a coffee addict.

Then I come home and drink Starbucks or some high end coffee shop stuff around here and can't stand it. Blech.

Maybe the atmosphere has a lot to do with it!

I didn't use to be a coffee snob, but my husband bought me the new "Senseo" coffee maker - you know, the one with the coffee pods -

It is absolutely the BEST coffee I have ever had! Don't think the one on the Magic can compare -

Can we talk about something safe like politics or religion instead?

I am NOT a coffee expert (or snob if you prefer). I found the coffee on the Magic to be a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. For reference, I would put Starbucks at about the same........and coffee from a high end restaurant or small privately run coffee shop higher.
The key is in the roasting and brewing. Since there really are really only about two coffee importers, one of them being Nescafe, odds are 50-50 that your favorite brew at home is actually Nescafe distributed by some local coffee distributor.

Think of it like this, I could enjoy a 40.00 bottle of merlot just as much as I would enjoy a 10.00 bottle of merlot, and not taste too much difference. Could both be a 7 out of 10 for me. Now, get some one who really knows wine, or has general preference for certain regions, vineyards, grapes, barrel types, etc, you'd get a different answer. Perhaps some coffee "snobs" do taste a difference! I guess it did turn into a debate after all....but I couldn't resist as I am drinking my fresh roasted, freshly ground and brewed "just how I like it" coffee!

We got in the habit of stopping by the Cove once a day for "just" coffee, DH said one morning they gave him stollen bread from Palo with it. It was strong espresso coffee, and it only cost $1. One cup would do you, though.

eeyoresmom- The other posts are correct, it's Nescafe in the restaurants, bars, and coffee station. I can't drink it. It's been a problem for me since I'm addicted to caffeine and coffee is my dealer. The rest of my family is always somewhat happy to leave the ship because they know mom will get her fix and be a nice, somewhat normal person again.

Our last cruise was the first one since they put in the Cove Cafe. THANK YOU DISNEY! While it wasn't amazing coffee, it would do just fine. Hope it meets with your DH's approval.
