Is Olivia's Cafe any good/anything special? We are scheduled to go with a friend of mine on the last day of our visit, but I know very little about it. I'm reluctant to cancel because we are doing several meals with this woman and her family, almost all of which I picked out. I hate to bail on one of the only meals she picked. I did read the menu and it sounds pretty good.

The other breakfasts we have scheduled on our trip are...
Cape May Cafe
Kona Cafe
Boma
Tusker House
1900 Park Fare

Yes, Olivia's is good and they do have some items on their menu that I think are something special. We've had breakfast there once before and will be returning on our next visit. We're considering going for lunch as well.

I can let you know in a few weeks as we'll be there!! I've heard it's good 'comfort food'.

OKW is our preferred place to stay (at least 25 times), so we've eaten at Olivia's many times. It's very low-key and charming. Food is consistently good, not usually fabulous. Service can be very good, but sometimes it is slow. This won't be as exciting as the other breakfasts you have planned, but it's good enough that I wouldn't bail on your friend. Plus you can have a walk around OKW after your meal.

If you are going for breakfast, their banana bread french toast is really good as are their breakfast potatoes & pancakes.

i went to olivias 3 years ago and i got the bread and the wings. there wasnt much variety there though. the dishes were very large. if you arent in the mood for something big than olivias might not be for you. But otherwise, its very good. my sister got the strawberry smoothie. She said it was very ice chunky but delicious. i got the pirates punch and that is always good.

Generallly, Olivia's is not the kind of place you go out of your way to eat at, but neither would you go out of your way to avoid it. We will eat there whenever staying at Old Key West, and occasionally at other times.

You should expect a good, though not necessarily memorable meal.

So I would say, definitely go and enjoy yourself!

Olivia's is quite good. Special? No, I don't think I'd call it special. I love OKW's bar though.

Our Ratings of Olivia's:
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: D
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: A
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: It is somewhat inconvenient to drive
or take a bus to OKW. The food uniqueness used
to be lovely, but DDP has forced the eatery to
slip greatly in the unique department. Although
pleasant surroundings, the food is only above
average for lunch and dinner, but breakfast is
quite good.

wcpamotm and TDC Nala summed up my opinion very nicely....comfortable, laid back ambiance, friendly service and good, but not great food.
