Older kids and autograph books?

This past Sept. my DD was 15 and she got autograhs, had her passport signed and did the mask activities at the Kid Cots in Epcot. She had a really good time doing it. I think she realized that they would be great souvenirs and something that she can cherish when she is older.

Funny that was my situation. My older girls loved doing all the KIDCOTs, passports and getting autographs. At one point they did ask me if I thought they were too old for this and I said of course not! To me this is all part of the disney experience and we have been doing this since they were infants and afraid of all the characters! So I would encourage it because I think it one of the many things that makes WDW such a special place to visit.

We went last year with a 12yo girl and boy.

DS didn't want to even go NEAR characters. His grandmother coaxed him into a pic of all the grandkids with Eeyore and I bribed into a pic with his sister and Mickey. I am not sure if he was tired or forgot or what, but he did crowd up with the cousins to see King Louie and Baloo. No autographs though!

DNeice on the other hand was all over autographs. Her highlights of the trip were seeing the step sisters and when auntie got a front of the line pass for Ariel. :)

We did a hat last year. I will do it again when we go the next time.

It was perfect since the kid needed them to keep the sun out of their eyes & I didn't have to carry a book around with me & fiddle around my bag to find it.

I also did a photo mat but that was just for Chef Mickey's.

It might just be a girl thing but I'm turning 18 in September and just made my autograph book for the trip. The characters are my favorite part! :goodvibes

I'm not going to post my age but I haven't gotten autographs since I was about six and I am excited to do it again on my next trip. Also, I spilled orange juice all over my old book.

My kids, when we went in 2007, could have cared less about autographs.

DD6, then 4, was afraid of the characters, and spent most of her time hiding under tables when characters were near. :sad2: Forget about autographs, she wouldn't even look at the poor characters.

DD9, then 7, enjoyed meeting the characters, but didn't want to go out of her way to find them once she had seen the BIG ones (fab 5, Pooh and friends, etc). She knew they were just people inside costumes, and couldn't have cared less about autographs.

DD 14, turned 13 on the trip, was a teenager. Nuff said. Loves WDW, couldn't give a rip about waiting in line for characters... let's go ride Splash Mountain instead!

My DS12 said he is too old and "cool" to get all the characters autographs. To quote him, "they already signed my book last time, how many times do I need their names written on a piece of paper?". O-K then... lol No autograph book for him! LOL

My DS8 and DD3 will both have autograph books and my DS8 is really looking forward to it because he was only 4 last time and he remembers how fun it was!

I think it's a personality thing, not a boy/girl thing. My DS had just turned 10 before our very first trip this past fall. He loved meeting the characters, getting autographs and posing for pictures.
