Old Town Area

Last year, we stayed at a DTD area suite. Other than that, it's been WDW resorts. This year, we're taling my mom along (she wants to see WWOHP) and we're looking at a few places around Irlo Bronson close to Old Town.

The place gets fairly good reviews but I'm not sure of the area. Is it seedy? Loud? Safe?

Any help appreciated!

We camped in that area once. I can't recall the name of the place but they had cabins as well as campsites. Tropical something. It was very nice and we felt safe but there are some hotels in the area that look a little seedy.

Old Town itself is fun but can get a little expensive. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

The area is ok
have you looked at condos on villas of somerset, just off the 192 on poncianna boulevard, they are very nice and spacious

We've looked at a few villas. But, everyone seems sort of set on housekeeping, breakfast, etc. Mom, DH and one child aren't too big on self catering!

The area itself isn't too bad, just be careful at night. Then again, you need to be careful on I-drive at night too.. anywhere at night...

Given that you want to do Universal why not look around International Drive,nicer area with many more hotel options.If you do stay around Old Town the area itself is not too bad but don't go east of 535 as it does get pretty sketchy and run down.Right by Old Town the Comfort Suites maingate east is a very good hotel I would suggest.

I'd personally prefer I Drive. But, we need a 2 bedroom this trip and the ones I've found over that way are a bit out of budget.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites last year and would highly reccommend it.
Large rooms, free breakfast, nice pool.
Our room was directly overlooking the Fairground at Old Town - so much to see, we could also see the Disney fireworks in the distance.
