OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Kelleigh- My DH almost got a job in Florida recently, and we almost had to think about relocating. Although I would LOVE to live down there, the timing just isn't right. My kids are 15 and 11 and would be such a difficult adjustment for them. If this would have happened about 5 or 6 yrs. ago I would have done it in a second!!!
Thankfully my DH is getting another position so we don't think we'll have to do it after all.
When DS11 graduates- Florida here we come!!!!

We're at YC GV Oct. 27-Nov. 3. See you at SAB!!

Oh, that's what it was. :lmao:

On ch. 7 news last night they were talking about the heat and then showed a picture of some guy with his snow blower from that miserable winter we had (2010-2011) and I've decided I would still rather deal with this heat than face that winter again.

That winter was the worst ever! I have never shoveled so much in my life! Every single weekend we had like a foot of snow. The older I get the more I hate the winter!

We just got back from Ogunquit and it was beautiful there! About 10 degrees cooler then in Mass and a beautiful sea breeze! So sad to leave but thankfully I have our BC trip in 35 days to look forward to!

I had the opportunity to move to Florida in 1998, but turned it down. I still think that was the right decision. And I probably wouldn't have met my husband if I did. I do sometimes (rarely) wonder what my life would have become. While I love visiting Florida, I think the humidity would really get to me. I have very curly and thick hair and the humidity is just awful. The Arizona heat didn't both me and since their humidity is practically nothing, I think I could handle that.

My mother isn't thrilled with the idea of us moving, but I can't really stay here for them. And it really is about them. My two sisters have both been out of state pretty much from the time they graduated high school, but I've stayed. And now my parents have really come to expect me and my husband to always just be here. I've been their "go to" for over 20 years and I just feel like we really need to live our lives now.

Oops...don't want to get in trouble for going off topic, so...did you see that ticker? Wow! 101 days until we're at the YC for the first time. :woohoo:

I know exactly what you mean! They just need to let go.

Oh, and you'll like this one better...Marginal Way. This was June 5, 2009. It was pretty chilly up there that day.

Ok, true confession time:

I'm a teacher. I love snow, snow days, shoveling snow, the whole nine yards. Even without the days off, a good snowstorm breaks up the monotomy of winter.

Shoveling snow is the only type of exercise I really enjoy!

Robyn checks in to the BC today! As Scarlett would say, "I'm pea green with envy!"

The only good thing to come out of that first one, it's the only time that my office has ever closed for as long as anyone can remember and one of my attorneys has been here for almost 42 years.

I'm right there with ya! Yes, I am a snow bunny. There is nothing more relaxing than watching the flakes fly (which is probably why I am in love with this board!).

Mee too!!! Meeeeee too!!!!!

Don't forget that Dis meet is coming up!

For those of you who may be down at the Beach/Yacht club during the Third Annual BC/YC Dis Meet on Sunday, July 22 at 6:30 pm in the Beach Club Solarium.......

DON'T BE BASHFUL! Stop on by. All of these people are really friendly and new people will be welcomed with open arms. I realize everybody is really busy running around while they are at Disney but just stop in for 15 mins. to say hi and join the fun.

If you are in the area- fly on in and say hola to the nice people who are there, and those who are there in spirit! I wouldn't be surprised if a few tailfeathers are shaking at the meet!

Kitty Karyall. Ohhh do I get 5 points:banana:

LOL!!! :lmao::lmao: And don't forget her lovely boyfriend George Glass ;)

Great memories!

Day 2 on Weight Watchers - I need 10 pounds at least gone before I start my couch to 5k training, which is what I will use to get me started towards the 10 mile ultimate goal. Checking out the Jeff Galloway plan, but I do better with a podcast. I asked DH for a Garmin watch for my birthday (pretty! NOT! LOL) I'm serious about this. Unfortunately all holy heck is breaking out at work so things are getting stressful there. I'm a stress eater so this a good test for me. My mom had deep fried ice cream for dessert today and I didn't even want to eat a bite.

Going to go look at prices for the 2013 TOT weekend... LOL Of course, checking BC!!!! It ends at Hollywood Studios so what better place to stay????

Great job staying on plan You can do it!!

...once you get into training, you feel less guilty about fried ice cream :cool1:

Yes, that! :) I love the running talk. You are all making me REALLY want to do a Disney run. How cool would it be to do my first half-marathon at Disney?? ;)

Ah, well...I think I'll start with a lap or two around SAB in December. :)

Another fellow Northeaster here... I don't mind the snow but didn't enjoy flying in the middle of the crazy snow storm we got last October - it was one CRAZY flight home...anyone else remember that? My girls were praying we'd get stranded at the Orlando airport and we were one of the lucky ones who didn't. We watched numerous flights around us getting cancelled. It was a crazy end to what was a fabulous BC vacation. We are so doing the happy dance as our next BC visit is just around the corner :cool1:

Congrats!! I'm also a Mass citizen and I thought your screams might of been from sitting on leather seats in a pair of shorts!! Is this heat the worst or what!!!!!!

Jay

Yup. That came earlier in the day. It has been gross weather-wise, that is for sure. But it looks like we're going to get a break this weekend.

With less than 3 weeks to go for our trip I'm hearing now that my DSIL might be coming along for part of our stay. While I'm both happy and a bit anxious about this I'm having some difficulty explaining some of the basic "logistics" of WDW. She went when she was a child but doesn't remember much of it and needless to say I sometimes have to be the communicator between her and DW. I'm sure most of you have run into the problem of trying to explain Disney to someone who doesn't "get Disney". Shes of the impression that YC is a hop skip and a jump away from MCO. I tried to explain it would take some time for her to get to the resort (using ME). My question is how long is the trip from MCO to YC using ME? I think I remember something like 40minuntes but could not be sure. I told her by the time she got off the flight (I think she'll just do carry-on but maybe she'll check), got to ME, and rode to YC it would be around 1 to 1.5 hours. Is that accurate? Her next response was "I'll just cab it" but I would think that a cab would be 1)still somewhat long of a journey 2)somewhat expensive? Anyone ever cabbed from MCO to YC?
Thanks in advance, sorry for slight rant. :goodvibes

Wasn't this the first in a streak of storms that came every two or three days until mid-February? My snowblower died during the first storm of the winter (the previous Nov). I boldly declared that I would wait until Spring in order to get a better deal on a new one. Plus, I would also benefit by getting some exercise from shoveling. Then, when I saw the forecast for the week whenever the storms begin, I quickly changed my mind and rushed out to get a new toro. Somehow I managed to get the last one in stock at the local dealer, but I was a little ticked off, because I bought one that was larger than what I thought I actually needed. Well, went the storms ended and I was the only one with a working snowblower in the neighbor, I was definitely pleased with my sudden impulse buy!:goodvibes

Was that the storm that resulted in Halloween being postponed?

Awesome! It's definitely a great feeling! Hopefully you will not have another repeat this time around. :cool1:

Good luck with your upcoming task-

An hour to 1.5 hours is a good estimate for ME to YC. We have used it twice and with a 10 am landing, we have been at the BC close to 11 one trip and close to 11:30 on another.

Part of it depends on if you have to wait long for the bus to fill, and how many other stops you have. I think we stopped at POR and BW both times we took ME.

A cab would be quicker, but I personally don't think it saves enough time to justify the cost. Not sure what the cost is, but I'm guessing around $40 each way. I think if you go to the Mears website, there is a cab fare estimator.
