OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Take it easy on the tanning for a few days after you stop taking the antibiotic. I know what you're probably on (I'm a pharmacist), and it will take around 4 to 5 days for it to completely be out of your system, so you may still be sensitive to the sun. I would use a high SPF and go out in small increments....you don't want to look like a lobster at BC! :) Oh, and make sure you wear a hat all the time.....a lot of people forget about their scalps! Nothing is worse than a sunburned scalp!

I have been checking the kids like crazy for ticks....they're supposed to be really bad this year since we had such a mild winter.

Cindy

Well, Cindy, I wish our doctor and pharmacist had mentioned that tidbit before our trip! As Dee pointed out on my TR thread, I'll bet the kiddo's sunstroke (self-diagnosed! So maybe not) was impacted by the fact he was on antibiotics for the beginnings of a throat infection when we were there...

Hi there. For the first week of our holiday next year we are staying at BC:yay: and then moving to a condo for two weeks. We usually hire a car for the entire holiday, but as our first week will be purely dedicated to Disney we're considering not getting a car for the first week. Is the transport from BC good or will we miss having a car for that week?

Dee already answered this PERFECTLY, but I just wanted to say that not having a car was the best thing about our holiday! No gassing up, no parking, no worries about getting a ding in the rental car... It was a bit of a pain getting to the resorts for ADRs, but we used transportation on the way there and taxis on the way back and it worked out fine.

Yep. Sitting in a room waiting with all the groomsmen & my son. What can i say. You guys relax me.

Mike, hope you had an incredible day, and congratulations on the new daughter!!!

I am currently sitting in a hotel room outside LAX ready for our plane trip to Orlando tomorrow, we are going to spend a night in hotel near MCO tomorrow night so that we can arrive at the Yacht Club on Magical Express early Monday morning.

For all those of you who were curious, yeah my wife spilled the beans to the kids on Wednesday, so I failed to get there reaction on camera! Boo. And she's usually the cool one of the group. They are currently in bed while a stay up worrying. I have a feeling I'm going to crash at the Hilton tomorrow night.

I can't believe it's almost here. Everyone is beyond excited!

I am currently in the air on Father's day headed to Walt Disney World. What a great Father's day gift for me(even though I won't officially arrive at WDW until tomorrow morning)

To all the rest of the Fathers out there! Happy Fathers Day!

So excited for you!!! Can hardly wait to hear all about it.

Feckless:

Thank you so much. I just finished reading your most recent chapter in your trip report and while it's clear you had a ball and had fun with the other family, this most recent installment is showing how great it is sometimes to only have yourself ( and immediate family) to worry about!

Thankfully, it's only the four of us going. This time tomorrow, we should be in Epcot somewhere!

I realize my dates are missing on the first page. I will be arriving 9/2 to BLT (there is no room at BCV) and arriving to BCV on 9/3. That is working out ok because Jim (DH) has never stayed at BLT so he can experince that and we always go to MK our first day and I am in an ECV so we can get to MK very easily, enjoy the day, watch the fireworks and not stand in line to get out of parking lots or get into buses. :scared1: & then we will check into BCV for the first time and the other parks from there. Can't wait, counting down the days and making t-shirts. :goodvibes Penny

I'm a couple of days behind on updating the list, but I don't have you on my paper copy, either, so thanks for the reminder! What is your checkout day?

I'll make updates in the morning.

Sunday 9/9, I am a pin trader so coming in for the pin event and trying another resort besides the Boardwalk. :goodvibes

If no one has claimed them, we'd like them. We are at BC - CL. Let me know :)

Bummer so sorry we missed you - we had to leave the resort at 10am to make our flight wish I would have thought to post this sooner. We were CL level at the YC - you might ask if they are still there. PM me if you want to check and I'll send you our room #.

It's a great split. We did this in May and loved it. We planned it so that we never had to use transporation after any of the evening shows/fireworks. That alone made the split worth it. Hope you like it as much as we did.

Thank you! We are looking forward to it!

Hope everyone who's at BC/YC or headed there this week has a wonderful vacation! :goodvibes

Thank you!

Happy Father's Day to all!

So excited for the folks who are traveling soon! Here's a  for you!! :)

Happy Father's Day to all our YC/BC Dads! Being a dad really IS hard work, so I hope you get the rest and relaxation you deserve. Or, in the case of some folks, a Disney trip. :goodvibes

I just checked the BOG list on Page1 and I see several folks that will be traveling that first week of December with us. I would be SO excited to see some DIS'ers while I'm there. :cloud9:

Got DS#2's fall hockey registration packet yesterday and was excited to discover that the fee went DOWN this year! :woohoo: That's GREAT news, because the fee for DS#1's team will most certainly go UP this fall (new team), and I was kind of sweating it, since our trip payment is due 10/17. And with my decision to quietly book CL without telling DH, I had to make certain that it wouldn't break the hockey bank.

I sat down today and did the final "budget" for the trip, and I'm happy to report that everything will be all paid off by the due date without having to take one of the kids out of hockey (yeah, right, like that would ever happen! :rotfl:). Then at that point, it will be time to just  and :cheer2:.

Anyway, that was just a happy thing to share today--makes me look forward to the trip even more!!

So excited to be here at BC. We got to meet Teena. What an honor. You are even more lovely and sweet in person. The girls were so excited to meet you.

We were also able to beta test the Agent P adventure at Epcot. Very cool.

We are SV CL. The room is very large with a daybed and overlooks the porte cochere. Very comfy and are now getting ready to hit SAB.

Happy Fathers Day all!

It was great meeting you!!!! And thank you so much for the lovely treat!!

You should be able to see Wishes from your room....looking out towards the BC gate.....that was one of our favorite surprises about our SV CL room last year! Have a great trip!

I see you are from " Farmland South of Detroit"!! I grew up in Carleton, we got our first stop light when I was in high school and kids would drive their tractors to school on the last day :-) My brother & I both played hockey growing up so I know about the cost!!!!

I think sometimes the sun sensitivity issue is easily glossed over or forgotten, especially if you don't live in a very sunny or warm climate. I grew up and went to college in NC, so it was always stressed to us, because of the mountains (snow and skiing=sunburn) and coast. My OTC Pharmacy class project was on sunscreens! :) Now DH is on a blood pressure med that causes sun sensitivity, so I'm always in possession of a can of spray sunscreen, and the kids know they have to be sprayed down before they can go out! lol

I loved your solo morning at MK in your trip report. I have a fantasy of taking a solo trip to the World one day!! I have a feeling the only solo thing I'll be doing in September is laundry! ;)

I know that the food/drink area of Beach Club Marketplace doesn't open until 7:00. However, the coffee area is open & serving prior to 7:00. I made my coffee (in a disposable cup, as I didn't have a refillable mug), and waitied until 7:00 when they opened to bring it up to the register to pay- I did this on a few different days. On my last day, the CM at the register told me that coffee was complimentary prior to 7:00am. I thanked her and left...but was left wondering why was I waiting around the previous days until they opened a register, so I could pay? It seems odd (but awesome!) that it would be complimentary prior to 7:00. At CSR, I always hated how there was not coffee to be had before 7:00 (and even then, they usually opened up at 7:05 or 7:10!), but at the marketplace, the coffee area was always open early. What's been your experience w/ the coffee service in the early morning?

The reason I have some familiarity with this is because I was on antibiotics a long time ago, and either the pharmacist or the drug label mentioned the sun sensitivity issue. Well, I happened to spend some time out in the sun. And developed a really scary rash that spread rapidly!

Turns out, it wasn't actually the sun in my case. I was allergic to the Sulfa in the medicine!

That's really interesting info to know! I am also curious about what others have found with early morning coffee accessibility. Very interested!!!

OK Folks,
For all of you there now, or just returned, or headed there soon, WHAT is the situation with the toiletries? What kind did you have? And for anyone there now, how about cornering someone from Mousekeeping and asking them if a change is in the works??

Can you tell I am an H2O freak?

Thanks!
Linda:)

You are right! We had a great view of the fireworks!

Five Sundays from now, we'll be at the Beach Club! Seems like a good excuse for some emoticons! :cool1: :goodvibes :thumbsup2

We just returned today from the YC CL and had H2O grapefruit-bergamot shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Also sea salt bath & facial soap. Personally I preferred the clean scent of the aquatics - the lotion especially - the new lotion has a strong grapefruit scent.
