OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Oh dear Disney, PLEASE send the discount emails that Feckless doesn't want MY way!!!

My 11 year old so desperately wants to go this year. Ben is very jealous of Nate's class trip last month. He goes to the Disney website every few days and prices trips (note to self: hide credit cards) and he even prepared a Powerpoint presentation of the Top Ten Reasons We Should Go To Disney This Summer.

Are there any reasons NOT to go to Disney this summer??? :lmao:

Amanda

I'll work on that tomorrow. It is pretty funny. I think I have to copy each slide into a picture format. The pictures on the slides really make the point.

I can't wait to see it and send a copy of it to Jeanne!!!

I'm with Ben!

Please send the discounts Dee's way and please make sure it's good on July 22 so she can attend the YC/BC Dis Meet in person!

Why does that pesky $$$$$ always get in the way?
I always tell DH why can't I just win the lottery?

Oh dear Disney, please stop sending me emails about resort discounts and free dining when I can't convince my family to go back until 2014... Thank you.

Dear Feckless,
This is Disney speaking through the avatar of Ninja Mom. Give it up! You know you wanna come back. Start making plans now for that 2013 trip and everything will fall into place. Perhaps you can throw in a bone like the new Fantasyland expansion project or perhaps the idea that the "Big Thunder Mountain Test Track" will be open this time. Don't bother with Snow White's scary adventures, she's busy building a mine train or something. Anyway 2013 rates are gonna be released on July 11th so get it in gear woman!

Signed,
Not Ninja Mom just the voice of Disney reason...

We just got back from a combined Disney cruise/Disney World trip (not at BC so I haven't posted about it here). I'm training for my first Goofy in January.

Amanda

That is so cool you are doing the Goofy! I am training for the 2013 Princess but I would love to be able to go for the marathon but because of work, I don't think it will happen.

Steph: Weather was the same here. I had to finally break down and use the treadmill at the gym since 102 is too hot for me to run outside!

Although our good friends (who we often go away for the weekend with) may have to cancel their planned August Florida trip because of work commitments (luckily the kids don't know). If they do, I might be able to convince them to come on an overlapping spring 2013 trip! DH might go for that, knowing that our kids would LOVE it. Plus he would have another golf buddy. At the moment we are thinking about Italy, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by this since I have no idea where to start. Other family members are talking about renting a huge villa as a home base and going from there, and the family IN Italy wants us to stay close to them... It's kind of taking on a life of its own and I'm not sure it is going to be much of a holiday for me, KWIM? Oh, who am I kidding, I just want to be back at the BC!!! :lmao:

Good LUCK! I think a stress free, relaxing Disney trip (if that exists) is better than a stressful Italy one!

$$$$$$

If you go to www.slideshare.com you can upload the Powerpoint and then you can share it! I use it for my class lectures so I can put the presentations on my classroom website! It is perfect for things like this and no need to convert anything.

I was wondering if there was an easier way!

Do people need Powerpoint to view it?

At any rate, I already printed and scanned everything, so here goes.

Ben did all of this on his own.

On a couple of slides, the writing doesn't appear :confused3 so I just added in the caption:

Ben definitely has has his priorities in order and his Moms way with words. Now the question is how long can the parental units hold out? :teeth:

I have a couple of SAB questions... I know you each have to show a room key-do they still do wristbands also? After you get into SAB, what do you do with your room keys (and any other "stuff" you may have like cash, cell phones...)? Also, what is the proper etiquette for the chairs? Can you put your towels etc on them and "claim" them? Or is that considered wrong? Thanks!!!!

Yes, everyone except for kids under 3 must show their room key to be admitted to SAB. The CMs at the entrance points will put a wristband on you.

I have a waterwallet that I use for any cash/room keys/credit cards. There are also lockers you can use free of charge- next to Poolside Gifts and also in the nearby Health Club. If you bring a camera or cell phone to the pool, I suggest you use those. (There are pictures on the first page of this thread, second post)

My personal opinion is that while you are at the pool, it is perfectly acceptable to put your towel and bag/book, whatever you have to reserve a chair while you are enjoying the water. We are not really ones to sit out, but our family of 4 will usually grab a couple of chairs as home base.

I'm not a big fan of people who go out at 10, set out towels, go to a park and come back at 2 to enjoy the pool. I don't know if the towel game goes on at SAB, but it shouldn't IMHO.

Now the question is how long can the parental units hold out?

I give the over-under ont his question two weeks.

I have a couple of SAB questions
(1) I know you each have to show a room key-do they still do wristbands also?
(2)After you get into SAB, what do you do with your room keys (and any other "stuff" you may have like cash, cell phones...)?
(3)Also, what is the proper etiquette for the chairs? Can you put your towels etc on them and "claim" them? Or is that considered wrong?
Thanks!!!!

Dee beat me in with the answers but I'll give it a shot since I wrote it out already.......
(1) You will get wristbands to wear for the day. Different colors on different days.
(2) Many thoughts on this. I'll go with putting the room card in a pocket in a swim suit but there are lots of other options. Just be aware that yes, even though you are at the happiest place on earth there are those that have other ideas when they see someone else's belongings and they really can't help themselves. It does happen.
(3) It's not good form to put a towel on chairs, walk away, and come back in three hours and expect to be able to use that space. If you are there and swimming and will be using the space, then a towel and maybe a shirt might be good. There are many times I'll want to take towels off those lounge chairs when I know that there is no one using them, however, my sense for decorum usually stops me from doing it. I have heard that castmembers have been known to do it if they know the culprit is no where around.

Hope you have a great trip.

Dee - you have an amazing 11 year old! That was brilliant.

How can you hold out after such a fantastic presentation - have you never heard of Disney Visa????

Dee love the PowerPoint presentation.

Oh by the way we did switch resorts to POFQ. They have queen beds. Only $200 difference.

Sounds like a great choice. You will be much more comfortable than with the double beds at ASMo.

Have a beignet for me!

I just realized how addicted I am to Y&BC thread. Who else out there checks in here before looking at their checking account balance or their email?????

If I go six hours without looking I feel like I might have missed something....

Sick. I know......Better go take a look at that checking account...

After a month of trying to pick between the Poly and YC, my families two favorites. I just booked the YC cl for Jan 4-9th. Let the games begin.:cool1:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

Thanks! I'm leaning towards a Standard room at BC since I haven't stayed there and hopefully request a full balcony although its only for two nights and I won't be in the room that much so I might not even worry about that. Thanks for the helps!!!

Let us know when you nail down your booking and I will add you to the list!

ME, ME, ME! I check here with my :coffee: morning coffee, and then of course, it's on to anyone's trip report that I'm reading (:wave2: Hi Dee).

And now that I have the app downloaded on my phone, well, let's say my lunch is a little longer too.

And let's not forget that I check it once again before bedtime! :sad2:

My husband used to make fun of me (well he still does) but he will also say that we've learned some great tips and info from my obsession!:lmao:

Dee- Great presentation! And slideshare is great because you don't need PowerPoint to view it. It makes it into a kind of presentation movie thing. I love it, my students have even used their smartphones to view stuff!

That would be me too. I think I officially have a problem. I actually have not even made coffee yet, I jumped on here to check things as the brewer heated up.

Thanks for your comments about the PowerPoint. My son is both persuasive and persistent. He mentions the trip to Disney SEVERAL times each day!!!

I showed him everyones comments and he appreciates them. He especially liked Katesdad prediction that we would cave within 2 weeks!

Mike- you know I'm obsessed!!!

My computer is in the kitchen, so I check in frequently during the day.

It is either my first stop or second stop in the morning. Sometimes email comes up first.

Hope your bank balance says there is another Disney trip in the cards soon!
