Does anyone know if Disney plans to re-design some of the studios at OKW to the one bed,one sofa bed configuration?

I don't think it would be exactly legal to do so. They were represented and sold as having two queens, and under FL timeshare law, a timeshare can not unilaterally substantially change the configurations of what was purchased.

Besides, if a bed/sofa combination is important to you, there are 5 other onsite resorts to choose from.

I HOPE not!!!! We didn't buy into that, and I'd hate to see it change now after all this time. If you want the sofa/queen configuration, reserve at one of the DVC resorts that has that configuration. When we have a 2 bedroom, we like that there are 2 real beds in the second bedroom. I would hate to be downgraded to one bed and a sofa.

You and me, Diane. I would hate to have that sofabed in the OKW studio. We don't usually stay in studios, but we will get a two bedroom and sometimes a lockoff two bedroom for our friends. Two beds are just so much more comfortable for sleeping.

I hope not! We own at BCV and we stay at OKW just to have the two beds. We have a 16yr old girl and a 11yr old boy. Us girls sleep together and the boys stay together. We can't even do that in a one bedroom anywhere. The one bedrooms have a king bed and a pull out sofa. We stayed at WL studio and my husband slept on the pull out for a week....he won't ever do that again.

You know when I read of people staying in studios at the other resorts I can't imagine it sleeping 4, I don't want to sleep in a sleeper sofa no matter whether it's new or not. I want a bed! At OKW you get two beds, a little kitchenette and a balcony. I don't want them to change it. I think OWK is the best!

On the other hand, for those of us that come as a couple, it would be nice to have some studios at OKW that did have the sleeper sofa. While one person is working at the table the other person has a place to sit and relax. We do own at OKW and three other resorts.

But some of us who travel as a couple only stay in a 1 bedroom because that way we get the living room and kitchen plus the king bed.

I don't think it will ever happen, but it would be nice to have SOME studios at OKW with the sofabed configuration. We always stay in a 1 bedroom and we reserve one bedrooms for friends who are couples. But for solo travelers or couples who need to stretch points, the sofabed configuration would surely be a nice option. I may have to go solo next October and the odds are that only OKW and SSR will have studios available by the time I am ready to book. OKW will not be my choice because there is no sofa.

If Disney could have just a smattering of the one bed one sofa-bed configuration, that would be a boon for singles or couples on a points budget!

And then there would be the "whining" on here

"I didn't get the sofa bed room and I requested it'

"I got the sofa bed room and I HATE it"

LOL! They won't make this board happy no matter what and as an owner I vote for no change

If two adults travel together, for a golf weekend or something, the only way then to guarantee they both have a real bed would be to reserve a dedicated two bedroom? Remember, there are no dedicated one bedroom or studios at OKW, they are all lock-offs.

Words of wisdom. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The two beds are why I don't book studios at OKW. DH and I most often visit as a couple and I like to sit on the sofa to watch TV. In Feb we stayed in a 1br at OKW so we could visit OKW. The next visits are all studios-- VWL and AKV concierge in July, and BWV in October.

Yes, and a booking NIGHTMARE!
That's a bit of an exaggeration, LOL. There are already far more booking complications at AKV, BWV and even for the 2 bedroom categories at BCV than this change at OKW would create.

That said, it's not going to happen - the POS lists only the two queen bed configuration for OKW.

Those who do not like the 2 bed configuration for studios have 5 other WDW resorts to choose from. Those who like the 2 bed configuration have only OKW.

But you aren't using the "studio" portion then anyways right?

I wish they had that option also. At OKW if I was in a studio I would feel as it was more like a hotel room with the two beds.

Shoot, any studio is more like a hotel room than a one bedroom. If you want to save points and stay in a studio with one bedroom and one sleeper sofa, get some points at BWV. Or book at SSR, which might be a bit more than OKW, but less than the others.

Would this type of booking category be so different from the 2-queen/2 bedrooms catefory at BCV? I think that there are not that many nights that OKW is booked 100% full, and having some lock-off studios with the sofabed would be another option that would be desirable to some DVCers. DVC is most appealing when it has lots of options for lots of situations.

Nope, not appealing at all to me. One reason we choose not to stay in studios is the lack of two real beds, except in OKW where we have done a studio twice.

To those who want a studio with one queen and one sleeper, just suck it up and book at any of the other resorts and leave OKW alone.:thanks:
