We are planning a trip for October 2013. We have a party of five with 3 adults and two children, 10 and 11. In the past we have stayed in OKW and loved it but also love the prospect of a different hotel. To us, staying on Disney property and using features of the hotel make or break the vacation. We are not DVC members. The cost difference for the BLT one bedroom villa is $960 higher for the week. Has anyone stayed at the BLT that can tell us if the convenience is really worth the extra$$$? Any other suggestions where to stay would be appreciated also, hard with 3 adults, need that separate sleeping area for children and maybe the third adult.

We stayed at BLT once (we are DVC members). It was nice but I prefer either OKW or Boardwalk (Boardwalk is where we stay most of the time). Not sure if you are getting a 1 or 2 bedroom. When we stayed at BLT, we had a studio and it seemed much smaller than the other resorts we had stayed at. OKW's rooms are bigger even than Boardwalk (the 1 bedroom at least). The studio at OKW I'm not crazy about because it has 2 beds and no couch.

It just depends where you will be spending the most time. It is great to be able to walk to MK!!! But if you will spend a lot of time at Epcot or the studios, then BW is better.

DH and I have stayed in studios at BLT, OKW, SS, AKL Kidani,.....they are all lovely and all have features that are better/worse than others. BLT studios are smaller, OKW has 2 queens but no couch, etc. but we have not been unhappy in any of them.

Hth!!!!

We stayed at BLT 11/27 -12/4 in a 1 bedroom. It was nice but for the money we spent (no discounts) and had DXDP I just don't think it was really worth it. When I booked, I could have gotten free dining at the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Wilderness Lodge. I declined because I wanted to stay at BLT. We had AAA, and still didn't get a discount. So, no I don't think we'll ever stay there again.

$960 dollar difference..... I would go with OKW.
Especially if you give yourself "resort" time. I think OKW is a better resort to spend a couple of hours to relax.

Thanks to everyone for the input! Sounds like we will be sticking to OKW! We do want to stay at the Boardwalk-love that slide at the pool-but their one bedroom villas only sleep 4 :(

We have stayed at both and there's no comparison, I'd go with BLT every time. It is so much more convenient -- the walk to MK can't be beat. Also, the QS option at OKW is terrible (and I mean 'terrible'), and it's not open late. So if you want to go grab a coffee at 10 pm, you're out of luck. And if you aren't driving, OKW is a nightmare -- the internal bus stops were a real pain -- plus we had to take the bus to get to the pool..

We've stayed at both. As you can probably tell from my screen name, OWK would normally be our choice. Especially at the price difference you're talking about. We don't mind the more cramped space at BLT if we're only there a few nights but usually our primary park focus isn't on the MK so the proximity isn't that important to us.

I would also go with BLT, for the convenience and also for the second bathroom. With three kids that would be really handy!
