So, I noticed looking at the points charts, that AKV and OKW were the two cheapest point stays that are out there. I have also heard that OKW was sort of old, I belive it was the first resort if I'm not mistaken. What is the condition of the resort. Also I will be traveling with two small kids and noticed that AKV the new expansion "kadiani village" is the best value for the newest resort. I went ahead and booked the new expansion at AKV, am I going to regret it, or is it nice?

Thanks

It's very nice. The only negative if you consider it one, is that most of the food is at Jambo House.

The "cheap" points stays in AKV are for value and standard view and they're a great bargain! We recently stayed at Kidani, standard view, got a view of the parking lot & road but loved the room anyway and had a good view of the savannah from a corridor window just feet from our room door. As for the value rooms, they're only in AKV Jambo, I hope we get the chance to book one sometime. We could end up with a parking lot view (still ok) or a savannah view--take a look at the second photo in this post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33447943&postcount=2

This is one thing to highlight. If you're kids are like my youngest and can't sit still long enough for a sit down dinner then you may want to re-consider Kidani vs Jambo. Jambo has the only counter service option at AKV and the walk isn't the most convenient when you've just gotten done doing a long day at the park.
But, if you're also like us and do most of your meals in your room its no big deal!

Jambo has the better pool for the kids in my opinion, but Kidani's is larger.

Regardless of yoru view you've got more than enough places to view the Savannah from multiple angles in both buildings.

The real draw of AKV (Kidani OR Jambo) is the savanna view and the animals. If you have a savanna view room, you wont go wrong with either location.

I never quite understand all the hoopla about restaurants anyway. The Jambo house is a quick 3 minute stroll from Kidani, so anything at one is also near the other.

Missing the Adventurers Club :lmao:

OKW is also a nice resort.. Not as new as AK by far but does not show its age IMO a great option and I think a better deal then the others at the point level.... I like OKW.
However the resorts are different from each other I would also consider which theming would better fit your family. I would not be displeased at either resort. We are staying at Jambo Sav. View 2BR for the first time in Nov. I am worried I may not like it there :confused3

First- OKW is FANTASTIC!!! You would love to stay there! It is beautiful, relaxing, and a great resort.

Second- Kidani is also great, the savannah itself is worth the trip, throw in the water play area, and state of the art facilities.. WOW.. you are going to have a great time!!!

I agree OKW is a great resort - no where else on property are the rooms so large - plus they have a great slide at the main pool. My only complaint for this one is that if you're not near the hospitality house you almost need to take the bus to get the main pool and food court.

Kidani is very large - I felt like I walked 10 mins before I got to the lobby - and I got lost going to the pool. But, it is beautiful and relaxing b/c it's so far away from the parks.

OKW is very very nice... largest DVC rooms on property...you can park your car by your room (very close!)...relaxing atmosphere....Hidden gem: Olivia's to eat!... only a boatride to DTD... and a nice golf course if you are into golf.

We love OKW. And we love love Kidani. Your stay at Kidani will be a great one. Beautiful resort. large accommodations (though not as large as OKW) Nice Cms, great pool, relaxing , and a short walk to Jambo. Enjoy!

My home resort is BWV, but my favorite for relaxing is OKW. They are the biggest units and I like to sit on the deck in the morning and watch the golfers go by. The pool is also nice for kids. My nieces thought that it was too quiet when they were with me several years ago, but the 3 friends that I took last year loved it.

We are staying at AKV-Kidani in December, then BLT, so I'm anxious to try the newest resorts.

We've stayed at both resorts and love them both. We love the tropical feeling at OKW and the African theming at Kidani is wonderful. We prefer it to Jambo because there's not so much bustle.

OKW is more of an cul-de-sac development type of resort, very spread out,WHICH I LIKE, I don`t want to walk a mile to my car,and I usually room near a quiet pool and bus stop.I always want to stay at OKW first,LOVE THE DECK and SPACEY ROOMS.I chuckle sometimes in trip reports of wear on the carpet or sticky door!!!!!To some thats important,to me we`re in the unit to sleep and eat.

AKV,my wife loves it,college son and I hate it!!!!It`s very nice and new but too far out,To us if you`ve seen one zebra you`ve seen them all.The main pool gets very crowded, but the beauty of DVC it has something for everyone, lots of people love AKV
