Thanks for everyones earlier replys. We have finally decided on 10 days at the OKW and 4 at BCV. Having never been to either are there any particular units that we should request or areas we should look to be in. We have damned the expense and gone for a 1 bed at both. There will just be me and the wife and our then 3 year old daughter. any suggestions gratefully as always received. thanks in anticipation!

Sounds like a great choice. You will love the 1 BR at OKW. I would request a ground floor unit since you will be staing ten days. I expect you would get tired of the steps with a 3 year old. You can request one of the 3 60's buildings that have elevators. Other than that it depends on how close you want to be to the main pool or one of the other three pools. Pull up the OKW map and look at the building numbers. Also whether you would like a golf course view or a water view. The 3 year old would enjoy the ground fllor and seeing the ducks and other wildlife. The bus will take you right to MK. Also the family will enjoy the boat to DD for shopping and other attractions. You can also pool hop to BWV.
BCV will give you a great taste of SAB and a short walk to Epcot and the BW. However you had mentioned that the little one was adverse to the stroller. Any of these walks can be rather long for those little legs.

at OKW views are woods, golf or water

you can be near bus stop, pool or HH (hospitality house)

not sure about the views at BCV - I happen to love the Epcot - Spaceship Earth view that I got - love it!!!!

Doc had a map with the views of BCV on it.

Here is some <a href="http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=257950">BCV information</a> and <a href="http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1251562#post1251562">OKW information</a> that may be useful.

I wouldn't get too hung up on specific locations at either resort, as it can lead to disappointment if the room you request is not available. Just request a view or area and enjoy the stay.

Have a great trip. :)

There are no REALLY bad views at OKW that I know of(ie-dumpsters etc). Some views are better than others though. We were just there and were in building 27, which is on the main road, across from the pool and dock area. It was on OK building, but I would request to be further in next time, eithar at TUrtle pond or South Point. They had a pool party thing every day at the main pool which I thought was a little noisy and annoying, so I'd probably request to be closet to a quiet pool. However, if you need to be close to the main area(restaurant, gift shop etc) for any reason, request it that way. Turtle Pond or South Point are not going to be within a short walking distance to the main area. A first floor unit would be good so you don't end up lugging your 3 year old up 2 or 3 flights of stairs every day when he/she is tired!!!!The buildings numbered in the 60's have elevators, and are close to the main building. They might be a good choice though, because they aren't as directly located across from the pool, and therfore the pool party may not be as annoying.

At the BCV, we stayed in a 1BR unit #134 which was a ground floor unit whose patio doors opened onto the quiet pool and it was fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the above post. Don't get too hung up on room location. Every time I've been down my room has been fine.

Once at OKW we had a room near a quiet pool, that was special , last time ther we were put in a room with a courtyard which I really liked. There are bus stops thru-out and a variety of pools so just get there and enjoy yourself.:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:

Since you will be staying so long at OKW and will probably spend some time there, you may want to request a room close to the HH. They have a game room and some planned activities your 3yo may enjoy -- crafts, etc. You'll also be close to the boat dock for your rides to Downtown Disney and trips to the snack bar and Gurgling Suitcase if you're so inclined.

It's great to stroll around OKW.

:)

OKW does have bad views when you book a studio - like the other DVC resorts.

I have put next to the air-conditioning units - I have had a street view (when I was told there were none). I have a view of the hill behind the golf course - very, very dark.

as I have say all the DVC resorts have a couple of bad views.

however OKW has some of the best views - too. I really love the water views!!!

this is a beautiful resort - with a 1-bedroom you should get a wonderful view!!!!

I would go for as high as possible if you can walk the steps.

Thanks for everyones replys.
I suppose because we have never been to either resort we are just trying to get an idea of the options.
OKW does sound ideal- Peaceful and relaxed just what you require with a 3 year old.
We have been to WDW several times so we no longer have to commando around the parks and spend to tend perhaps a bit more time at the resort just chilling out either by the pool or in or outside the room. It is for that reason they we wanted some idea of where perhaps we would like to be.
From many of the posts it seems that we would be hard pressed to find a bad location for a 1bed villa but perhaps somewhere near one of the quiet pools would be nice. I've always favoured a room on the higher levels simply for reason of the view but have never had to contend with no elevators. My daughter will be most upset her favourite thing to do at VWL was to run ahead and press the buuton for the elevator! I still think we would rather have the balcony rather than "patio" less chance of people walking by on the 3rd floor!!
Peoples views on BCV will still be gratefully received. when all is said and done we've always been very happy with what dvc has provided for us in the past but as always you just want everything to be just that extra magical. Thanks again everyone!!

people can't easily walk by the patios view - they are back views and there isn't place for anyone to walk back - the golfers are pretty far away most of the time.

the only ones are the workers and most of the time you want see them - of course that could make it worst when you do....

but with a first floor you always run the chance of getting a handicapped room - the shower would be different and you would not have as much cabinets place (there needs to be room for the wheelchair)

Of course I preferred the top floor!!!

you might try for building 62, 63, or 64 - these are the only ones with elevators.

The HC villas with building # under 30 have the same kitchens as non HC. Over 30 the kitchens are the same except the fridge is a side by side and the sink does not have a disposal. the counters are a little lower. Otherwise the space is the same.

Yes, if you're booking far enough out, request bldg. 62. It has an elevator, and my favorite view. At least, of the buildings we've stayed in. Diana
