these movies from the classics of walt disney that i grew up watching along with alot of you are coming to dvd for the first time today.
the cat from outer space
the North Avenue Irregulars
No deposit No return
and the shaggy dog and shaggy DA are due out this fall dont remember when but if you ask your local blockbuster they can look it up for you
my only complaint is that they dont put these to dvd in thier original aspect ratio in widescreen so that we can see the movie the way it was presented originaly and meant to be seen. and they dont put digital soundtracks they are mono on several of these and that sucks when you have all this nice sound equipment and you cant use it on a great old movie. ON a side note has anyone seen the walt disney treasures about disneyland or disney world and tomorrow land? i was curious if they were worth seeing for a disney fan? and if you know where i can find these besides disney let me know

Having only the original mono soundtrack is actually commendable.

But why not widescreen? Aaaargh! I'll stick to my LaserDisc then.

I have the Tomorrowland Disney Treasures DVD set, and yes it's definitely worth it. If for nothing else, it has Walt's last appearance on film, in his show "EPCOT", in which he explains his plans for Florida. It was very interesting to hear what EPCOT was supposed to be, in greater detail- it would have been a city like nothing else. The whole EPCOT film hasn't been shown again since that time. The rest of the DVD set is very interesting too, about how rockets work, how a space station would be built, how a trip to mars would work, etc. Highly recommend, all these Disney Treasures DVDs are real treasures.

I bought "Greyfriars Bobby" which also just came out on DVD, one of the lesser known Dis flix, but one of my favorties. Am waiting for "Dr. Syn/Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" to come out in early fall. I also had purchased "Follow Me Boys" another oldie but goody. Glad these are being released again.

I caught "Dr. Syn/Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" on Starz, and a bunch of the Disney Classics on those movie channels. Check on there, I have saved lots of money taping them off of the TV. I still buy my favorites though, like Herbie!!!!!

I believe I saw the Tomorrowland and another one themed around WWII at Sam's Club today. I'm pretty sure they said Disney treasures, but it is worth checking out.

Our Wal-Mart and Costco still have the tins. Costco was about $22 and I think WM was like $24.

The Disneyland USA Treasures has the live ABC broadcast from July 1955 on the park opening day. So be aware you will see historical footage that is not superb quality. But to me this makes it all the more special. Walt arrives by train, there is a parade down Main Street and then the dedication. Walt then goes to each land and has an opening celebration and entertainment clips. Grand marshals were Art Linkletter, Ronald Reagan and Bob Cummings. Great improvisors when live TV ran amok. For a Disney lover it is an awesome watch!

The other episode is the Disneyland Tencentenial (10th anniversary) special. Also nice. Watch for the characters at the castle. There is actually a Jock the Scottie costumed character--talk about obscure!

Haven't seen this one at the stores lately, but I know it was one of the last to sell out many places. You might still find it or check a secondary sight. With the 50th anniversary coming up this one could get hot later on.
